Gillette Building scandal

With the current crisis in housing isn't it a scandal that the Gillette building seems to have been allowed to lie idle and empty for so long? Why isn't 'Use it or lose it' the strategy of choice for unused building like this?

Correct, the sheer number of production and support vehicles accessing the site each day show that it is far from unused.

It's far from empty it's actually a full movie production studio and has been for quite some time.

It's been closed now for 15 years and its occassional use as a film set seems such a waste.450 people were laid off and production was transferred to Poland.

It was said that Gillette moved out and transferred production to Poland (and Russia?). The joke being that they found that the suitable employees they needed were already in the UK!It was once being considered to be the American Embassy! ...the huge roof up there suitable for landing helicopters!Then it was bought by the Bonnington Hotel Group... but nothing developed. The building is often busy with the Filming Industry.It's current fate unknown.

I wonder what the cost of maintaining this massive building is and who is picking up the tab for it.
