Brentford loop line

Does anyone know if the loop line from Brentford to Richmond/Twickenham is permantly closed?  Thanks.

..But TfL do. As it is a service withing the TfL zones and is also subsidised.I think you will find that it's the disastrous running of TfL and it's financial and tendering incompetence which is the cause of this.Very few councils will challenge TfL as it is ultra politicised.

LBH must get a say in how the trains affect the economy of the area and as a London Borough money is tied up with transport?  It is shocking that we weren’t consulted and that this cut has been made in the middle of COVID where we aren’t making normal journeys.  When things get back to a more normal state the direct train to Twickenham and Richmond will be just as important as before.

Really surprised that LBH has agreed to this closure!  With the population increasing, and COVID, the desirability of the train to enhance the area is paramount.  Especially to Twickenham where the Kingston line used to time      (timetable anyway) with the Hounslow train pulling in.My neighbour is equally astounded and has asked if the 15 min service to Waterloo is being cancelled too?

Yes you are right if you are near the 65 route. I found that  with the train it was more certain of getting to Richmond on time if I had to be there for a specific time.

Wouldn't it be easier and quicker to get the 65 bus? I suppose that would depend on where you live in Brentford.

Yes Pat, I go to Richmond fairly regularly and it is a shame that the direct service has been so depleted. Yesterday I was coming back from Richmond about 2.40 - noticed there was a direct service to Brentford at 3.42 but took a connection via Barnes instead rather than wait for about an hour.

Answering my own question, it seems the loop line has been cancelled at weekends and only operates at peak times during the week.  It's still possible to get to Richmond from Brentford but it means changing at either Barnes or Putney.
