Cllr. Lambert - should we come around to your point of view, or vice versa? I think that most people acknowledge the climate problems and the part that transport contributes to this, and want to help with the solution. But this should be done with the participation of the people involved, and not imposed from above. What is the point of a having consultation if you ignore the results? The measures taken were done so with no proper science and have been justified with outright lies. They have made some roads more congested, more dangerous and more polluted than before with no real benefits for the roads that have been closed. And funnelling more traffic on roads that are also bus routes will have a negative effect on public transport too. You should listen and acknowledge where your measures have clearly failed, and take corrective action. If you introduce changes that are common sense, make a clear improvement, and have the support of local residents (such as the banning of cars outside schools), then you would not be vilified as you are here. These are our streets and our communities and there should be local accountability. If you continue to refuse to listen to the views of the people you are supposed to represent, then I would be happy for you to no longer be my councillor from next May.
