Brentford Voice Annual General Meeting with a ‘Local Conversation’ – Thursday 28 October 2021, 7.30pm – 9.30pm at Studio 1, Watermans Art Centre, 40 High St, Brentford TW8 0DS.This will be Brentford Voice’s first AGM since it was not possible to hold one last year due to Covid restrictions.  We hope to complete the AGM business in no more than half an hour, and to move on swiftly to the ‘Local Conversation’ at around 8 pm.If you’ve received our Autumn Newsletter titled THE CHANGING FACE OF BRENTFORD (link below), and if you are concerned about the changes that are happening and coming to Brentford, and most importantly want to have a say on the future of where you live we would very much like to hear your thoughts.https://brentfordvoice.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/BRENTFORD_VOICE_ISSUE_3-2.pdf As much as this is a local conversation it’s very much a ‘listening’ conversation, so do please come along as the future of our community belongs to all of us and we do want to listen to you.If you have a specific topic you wish to raise do please let us know in advance so we can create a structure for the meeting. I had my fill of being directly involved many years ago.  Does not mean that I don't care about my home town and less but Politics? Not a chance.Sadly am away working on site which needs more than a bit of attention currently so won't be there but really hope it is a successful event.

I grew up here and it was always a neglected, industrial backwater but with a mixed local population that was stable and quite cohesive. Nothing forced it was just that way.It's survived just about everything Corporate Hounslow has thrown at it since the 1970s but I don't think none of that compares with the callous and wreckless way in which Brentford has been hawked off to developers with little concern for small businesses and infrastructure.  Just where does a self employed artisan park a van or keep his or her equipment? It has become almost impossible to make a living with the overheads and artificial costs foisted upon people in this city when the competition is wider and cheaper.And yet they want to cram more and more people in.I hope Brentford Voice are not afraid of those who point the finger and scream or mock "Nimby"It's only a word but really is a valid concern for all those who are defending quality of life for now and the future.

I agree - Jim Storrar has been a voice of sanity and reason for Brentford, and let's face it Brentford needs it! It's a bit like being under siege - and there seem to be enough interested parties who support the brilliant efforts to get their opinions heard. I wish them all a very successful evening.

I hope this goes well, seems Brentford Voice could make a difference as long as it does not become yet another fringe activist group and follows the mainstream of local concerns.I suppose that's down to whether apathy still rules amongst those who matter - those who do live locally and do care but never get involved.Good luck to all those making the effort.
