Speed Camera Ealing Road

The Speed Camera outside Ealing Road baptist church on Ealing Road traveling south towards the River has been been put back into action to nick anyone traveling over 20 MPH The police must of heard how much Hounslow council is making out of fines from cameras  and decided to re-energize the speed cameras that were turn off, to raise their own revenue.Hounslow has become like living in a police state. Maybe time to move to pastures new, and leave Hounslow to human being haters.

20 is unreasonable for most of roads in towns. 30mph is the reasonable speed in most town street. Indeed, there are places where 20 may be appropriate (not on Ealing Road, by the way). But the problem here is that reasonable driver do drive below 30 where 30 is too fast. And unreasonable drivers - those who create the most problems and dangers - do not really care what the formal limit is. So the blanket 20mph is simply punishing law abiding drivers and provocing them to break the law.

20mph means 50% more air pollution compared to 30.The fact that they implement 30kph in Paris or any other place really proves nothing.So - again: it has nothing tpo do with road safety or environment. It is virtue signalling and part of the anti-car war.

I don't think there's an increase in bus journey times, Raymond, given that most bus drivers ignore the limit.

Personally I would like to see all smaller residential side streets restricted to 15.But some main roads revert to 30.One of the problems with 20mph on main roads is the significant increase in Bus Journey times and the increase in pollution from engines not running at their most efficient which is when pollutants and minimised.That would level the disparity between offering modes of transport.However one of the problems with the 20 MPH limit moreso on main roads is the extremely dangerous habit of Cyclists and now E-Scooterists weaving either side of motor vehicles at 25mph plus and worse still overtaking on the left hand side or often both sides.Something that is rife in Richmond Park.

Well, perhaps the reason for speed limits when you drove was different than today. The reason for many newly introduced speed limits is not road safety, and it is not environment.

Unreasonable speed limits do more harm than good. In all aspects including road safety.

If you hang around long enough in this location you will see that it has become a bit of a novelty toy for many attempting to set it off at night. Mainly Moped riders and others tripping it but with masked out number plates or no identifications at all. Never once seen this area policed albeit not easy in that location.It's all a bit of a wheeze for them,  but actually quite dangerous for pedestrians and in particular bus drivers who often have to take evasive action.

IMHO the only reason for complaining about a speed camera is because you want to be able to speed around and thus break the law...Stick to the speed limit , and the law, and you wont need to worry about paying anything.If you can do it, either move or stop driving (either voluntarily or because you've exceeded 12 pts)Simples

Due to disability, I do not currently drive a car but did fit thirty years. And hold a clean driving licence. I currently use a mobility scooter which, due to inept pavement design not having suitable drop kerbs, I often have to use on the road. I have the same amount of protection as a cyclist, which I was also a regular fit over thirty years. I also know my Highway Code, and the old stopping distances of vehicles. I also know four people who have had their lives seriously impacted due to an RTA. I have also witnessed and acted at two RTAs which, thankfully due to my first aid training, I was able to do until the emergency services arrived so I think I know a little of what I mentioned previously.

I read recently how Councils both in UK and Europe are getting nervous with the high levels of Drivers compliance, as this will effect already earmarked expenditure plans (more Non-jobs & Pensions) payed by the anticipated windfalls.

It's near impossible to speed along Ealing Road.  Even when it was a 30mph road it was rare to get above 25.There are always a handful of idiots who do and somehow don't get caught by either a camera or the Police.The rather dark section of the A4 seems to be a favourite race location for those in supercars and bikes all the way to Osterley.  That never seems to get policed.But how do you tackle those who speed in non registered vehicles?Those moped riders who cover their number plates and use pavements as well as the road?That is far more common in Ealing Road.

If anyone is speeding then they deserve to be caught. This area is like Formula 1 meets TT. There have been quite a number of accidents on Brentford High St, Kew Bridge Road and Kew Bridge itself and speeding increases that risk. The speed limit is there for a reason. If you want to speed, join a racing team!!!

It's been activating at 21mph for the entire lockdown.I note that some escooters and cyclists set it off and kids were doing sprints during the Easter holidays setting it off.
