Does anyone know how we should safely dispose of used LED light bulbs? I have looked on the Hounslow site but cannot find any information on this.

Now that bookings have to be made for the Household Waste & Recycling Centres it makes it much easier to work out where you can take recycling locally especially where you are buying a replacement.

Thanks for this everybody. I did see the website that Philippa links but wasn't convinced it was accurate - local knowledge about individual stores is great.Apparently we do take them at Space Waye - I have asked officers to update the website which only mentions fluorescent bulbs - and at other West London Waste member sites like Townmead Road. But makes more sense to use a local store.

This website is very informative:https://www.recycleyourelectricals.org.uk/how-to-recycle-electronics/what-electronics-can-be-recycled/recycling-lights-and-light-bulbs/Don't forget that you can also recycle a lot of your electricals in Hounslow by placing them in a carrier bag alongside your recycling. Obviously it is better to recycle lightbulbs in the smaller boxes at shops like Robert Dyas where they are less likely to get broken in the collection. Using your postcode on the above website you can find electrical shops near to you where you can take your electricals for recycling.
Tesco Osterley have a multi recycler by the tills. Batteries, water filters, LEDs make up receptacles and plastic hangers. Also soft plastic wrappers etc

Thanks for that information, I will check with Homebase.

Your nearest branch of Robert Dyas will take LED bulbs for recycling. Homebase laso used to have an LED bin but I have not been there for a while.

Will wait to hear what they suggest - thanks Guy.

Good question. LBH don't have facilities and the only council I can find who mentions them is Lewisham, but they don't seem to have any facilities either.I have asked recycling gurus for a steer.
