Has anyone got any information on or knowledge of the old disused bomb shelter which is situated in the B&Q carpark of chiswick roundabout ?

That's an interesting enquiry!Perhaps the Reference Library at Chiswick may be able to help..or the Planning Dept at the Hounslow Civic Centre!Some bomb shelters were above ground..re-enforced concrete building. I remember the one ont Thames Road..and when it was demolished. Was the one on the present B&Q site underground?Years ago the current B&Q site was used as a transport cafewith a lorry parking area. It was called Jocks Box.The is apparently a "hardcore" subway under the Great West Road further up the road...linked to Wallace House (the old British Overseas Airways Corp HQ). Could your shelter..have been another road tunnel?Let's hear how you get on with your enquiries. There is a lady at the Gunnersbury Park Museum called Joan who may have some information for you. She is a font of knowledge of that area.
