Disappointing from the Greens again

Yet another flyer from the Green Party. So many local serious issues and they turn out a piece of utter whimsy.  No evidence of any sort of pragmatism or common sense reality.This time on Boston Manor Parks pathways.If they stopped and thought for a few moments, it might occur to them why paths are being widened.Cleaning is mechanised, from sweepers & litter to leaf clearance. Cyclists use the pathways, so do pushchairs and wheelchairs and mobility buggies.Take one walk around Lammas park or Ealing showcase park to see how Bikes and cleansing trucks - even small ones have churned up all the footway edges into mud. Much of it is a complete mess slimy in winter and concrete hard and devoid of grass in dry summers.Plus the need for emergency service access.  In the 'olden' days paths were narrower simply because most maintenance was not mechanised and vehicles were much narrower and in the case of Ealing's Parks Adult cycling was not permitted . In fact, from 12 upwards. ( I was regularly thrown out for cycling by Parky) Stephen Clark, to be taken seriously needs to get some common sense rather than putting out stuff and nonsense.Din not see him kicking up a fuss about the loss of a Bowling green complete with herbaceous borders or the derelict lumps of Concrete in Gunnersbury Park. Or the completely unworkable paths in most of the southern half of that park. Rendering it inaccessible for so many.Surely Greens can do better than this - and publish flyers where one can ask a question rather than just agree?

I've met some really inspiring diligent pragmatic supporters of the Green movement but they seem to not be living in cities. Nor do they seem to be taken seriously.I think this is the reason why. Urban Greens. Only appeal here to the rather idealistic elements of urban society.Find it rather same old.. same old.  Could not vote for this type of half baked sound biting, any more than the stuff that come from the mainstream parties.

Raymond, I totally agree with you re the works going on in Boston Manor park and the opinions of Stephen Clark. I wonder if this gentleman has been a regular visitor to the park over the years. As for his remark that the new cafe should have been within BM house - no, we all enjoyed the old cafe run by the Friends with their community spirit. I understand that the cafe within BM house will be run by a franchise - I know which one I will be supporting. I had tended to lean towards the Green Party but their flyer has resulted in a lost vote.

I'm disappointed. Poor fake news with no substantiation ( The Water Stuff is as bad as the BBC report)  No mention of sewage being because of over development and densification and no space for additional infrastructure or the fact that Thames water or any other urban water company gets any input into such overdevelopment plans.We are not stupid so why publish childish kneejerkisms?Could do better.And print on recyclable paper. This stuff won't even light bonfires. and when it does ignite, it's toxic.

I gave our flyer back to the volunteer today. It’s not that I have an issue with the Green Party (I’ve seriously considered moving my allegiance to the Greens), but I have - twice now - asked for them to stop putting flyers/leaflets through our front door. It’s waste paper and goes straight into the recycling bin - very un-Green. We also have a very clear sign on the front door asking callers not to post junk mail through our letterbox - and yes, these flyers are unsolicited and are junk mail. For the sake of clarity, we don’t want flyers from anyone else either  - Labour, Conservative, Lib Dem, Monster Raving Loony (or, for that matter, pizzas, cab firms, property developers, estate agents, handymen or anyone). It’s 2022 and we watch the news, read newspapers and look at the websites of the local political parties. We don’t need a piece of paper. It’s wasteful, annoying and - of all people - the Greens should know better. If volunteers from any party feel that they must post leaflets, then please respect the preference of households who state that they don’t wish to receive unsolicited material. In the past, I have carried out leafletting but NEVER put anything through a door with a sticker stating that unsolicited material was unwelcome. The surprisingly rude response I received from Hounslow Greens when I brought this up before resulted them in losing my support. I’m sure they couldn’t care less, but it sends a really poor message.
