York Road incident

Last Monday evening I went past York Road and there were lots of police there, along with an ambulance and other emergency vehicles. There were SOCOs putting on forensic suits who then went into a house at the Windmill Road end of the street.All week there seem to have been police present there, and a blue gazebo and portaloo have been in place. It looks like a major crime scene but I’ve not seen or heard anything in the local media about what may have happened.Anybody here know anything?

Photographers have also been jumped upon just photographing the street scene.That's not normal either.

I went up York Road just now and there are two policemen sitting in a police car outside the house. What on earth can warrant a police presence which is presumably there all day and all night? Sorry to sound negative, but wouldn't just one officer 'do'? More than that, just what is going on?

Specialist unmarked vans and vehicles, dotted about and tent in street still there.Early low profile or covert although usual decorations of police tape and officers standing guard everywhere absent.Unusual for sure but if it's to protect our society at large, Fine.

Well, they didn't say it was trivial, just that it didn't pose a threat. No doubt we will learn in due course.By the way, I am not passing comment on the police force as a whole, but I think the Brentford SNT are doing a very decent job of neighbourhood policing and they got universally positive feedback from the public at the ward panel.Whatever is happening in York is not a neighbourhood police activity, though they are obviously aware of it.

Considering they don’t turn up to most crimes, particularly burglaries which are hugely distressing for the victims, I’d be very surprised that they’ve thrown all these resources at a trivial matter.Then they wonder why confidence in the Met is at rock bottom.

The local SNT (ward police team) were asked about this at the police panel on Thursday. Actually I think they may have brought it up themselves.It seems it is not anything serious, and they're conscious that it looks like it is.They had trouble keeping their lips buttoned but they did.
