The change of use of the pub would need planning permission but, so far as we can make out, no planning application has been submitted. The building is locally listed but it doesn't lie within the St. Paul's Conservation Area (it's not entirely clear why it is not in the conservation area, nor why New Road is also excluded). In Isleworth, there is a relatively recent example of a broadly similar proposal. The George Inn, on the corner of South Street and Twickenham Road, has permission for change of use to a place of worship (a masjid) and community centre. The George is a Grade II listed building and lies within a conservation area. It seems that funds (about £500,000?) are still being sought to carry out the necessary work. The planning issues surrounding the change of use of the Princess Royal would probably include the usual suspects, such as parking, traffic generation, and impact on heritage assets. Brentford certainly needs more community space so, if the building was to be open to the wider community, this could be a valuable facility.
