Yes, the long-awaited marina construction will begin soon. The developers must complete phase one of the Marina - 16 berths I think starting at the eastern end - within 9 months of the licence being issued by the Marine Management Organisation. This was issued in March. I suspect (haven't checked recently) that there will be constraints on when they can start, to protect waterfowl in the breeding season, but we should have half a marina by Christmas. The other half (Watermans centre end) is still subject to a legal wrangle between a boat owner and the Port of London Authority.Tests have been undertaken on the structure of the boardwalk and I understand this is sound, but the decking clearly needs replacing - not sure quite when, but soon - and the cycleway will open when lights have been provided. this is dependent on SSE providing a power supply but is expected in May.This will be the culmination of something that has been going on for decades - indeed I'm told the water side of the park was completely cleared in 2000 only for 'squatters' to reappear. The Friends of Watermans Park, a new organisation formed during my time as a councillor, have done a terrific job getting this improved, just as Friends of St Paul's have (and of course Friends of Boston Manor). Now, if I could only persuade somebody to start a friends of Carville Hall Park...
