Why is a candidate’s proposal to listen to and act on the views of their constituents seen as opportunism – surely the correct word is representation. The current administration has completely ignored the clear and overwhelming opposition to these road closures – in my street 85% were opposed to the road being closed – we were causally ignored as though our opinions meant nothing. There has been no data to back up the measures that were taken – we all know that our streets have become more congested, polluted and dangerous as a result of this misguided and anti-democratic action. If there was proof that any benefits have resulted from the LTNs, then this would have been published. This council continue to push a dishonest agenda and to treat their constituents with utter contempt. If Robert Thorpe (no relation, by the way) were standing in my ward, I would consider voting for him.
