Joe Paul, former landlord Inverness Lodge Club

We had this request sent throught to our letters page, thought I'd see if anyone could help out...Calling all old friends of Joe Paul, former landlord of the Inverness Lodge Club, Boston Manor Road,Brentford!Granddad of five girls and Dad to former page three girl Lorraine Paul and sons Dorian and Alex, local legend JoePaul was well known in the 1970s and 1980s in Brentford as the landlord and singer in the place affectionately known as 'The Club'. His darts throwing, Sinatra singing, cigar smoking and joke telling skills are still unmatched. He was well liked and respected here and many people will have great memories of his time at the club. He and his wife Ena moved to Florida several years ago but they have never been forgotten. Sadly, Joe is now desperately ill with a brain tumour and we have no idea at this stage serious this will get so we are asking all old friends to get in touch with us with any good wishes that they would like us to pass on, so that they can be shared with Joe to help him remember the good old days. He desperately wants to come home to London but is not allowed to fly and this will be the nearest thing he can have to a trip down memory lane. Kevin, Joe sadly passed away last weekend. In November he expressed a wish for his ashes to be spread around the Inverness Club.As he lived in Florida for the past few years obviously it would mean his ashes to be flown over. I will keep you informed.

We did have a party before Christmas for members & old friends.It wasn't actually intended to be for Joe, but it was great to see how many of the ''Old Club'' turned up to either pay their respects or just come along & have a good time & remember ''The Invo'' as how it used to be & hopefully how we intend to carry on in the future as being a ''Members/Family Club to be used & run by the sort of people who can appreciate it!!

Hello everyone, I am sure most of you have heard by now but for those of you that haven’t yet, on January 7th 2006 Joe Paul sadly lost his battle with brain cancer and passed away. I wanted to thank you all once again for all of your kind wishes, I know they were a comfort to him in his last days. You don’t know what it has meant to the family that so many of you were so fond of Joe, it made us all so very proud of him. If you would like to contact his family you can do so via joepaulofbrentford@yahoo.co.ukI am not sure what arrangements have been made regarding his funeral but I understand that it was always Joe’s wish to be cremated and scattered around the Inverness Lodge Club in Brentford, so perhaps he will come home after all. Hi everyone, I am pleased to report that so far over 20 people have responded directly to Joe's email account and I am sure he will be well pleased to hear from so many people. Thanks for all your kind wishes. I am afraid the news is not good and it turns out that he has been given just 4-6 weeks to live. The tumour is forcing him to slip into trances where he finds himself back in the club surrounded by his friends. At least he is in a happy place. I am going out there soon and would love to pass on any messages. Thanks again, Caroline

I'll put up a letter in the club this weekend with all these details on it & also mention it to whoever's in there.I remember Joe from years ago when my Dad used to take me in the club as a kid.Hopefully we'll be able to contact some of his old friends to pass on their best wishes.

Hi my name is Debbie My dad Kenny Lawrence remembers Joepaul he used to be on the committie in those days he remembers going to by a 38s  type jag car in isleworth which he umed and ard for ages the as he went to buy it it had just sold my dad was most disapointed  he came to the club that night and saw the car in the inverness car park when he asked whos is the jag joe paul said it was his  he had got in there quick never mind.He said to tell joe that does he remember ron the door man and big brian thomas and little brian thomas and olive?They still go to the club most weeks if theres anything you want me to find out for you please email me on debbiedewar1970@hotmail.comMy dad kenny sends his best wishes to joe and hope he recovers quickps the club is very boring now and still many old faces still drink in thereall the bestDebbie and kenny lawrence
