Is this okay?

This is the third night of rain and the third night since this developer removed his roof, on a pair of semi's - see next posting as the header won't take a picture.

Well we did wonder about the quality of the cement in the foundations, Kevin.  The days of having a measured strength concrete delivered in a cement mixer have long gone - it is mixed on site and who tests the quality?  Are they working to concrete strengths by guesswork? How sloppy it is when poured into the hole or the strength used as a standard in another Country?

Cheap labour, absolutely no health & safety, shoddy workmanship, cheap sub standard materials, probably no building regs adhered to, cash in hand no questions asked!Sounds like most of the sites/refurbishments that are taking place all over London every day.The poor buyer/renter will only find these things out later on when the builder/developer has had his money & flown!

Developers working practices evolving in Hounslow.The workers took the roof off without any scaffolding or safety gear - which is becoming normal - one did have a baseball cap on.  Most of the workers on these sites (which are normally empty so there is a completely different style of working) are casual labour who can't speak English.  I understand these are Polish and are all living in a house in the next street.  Goodness knows who gives them their instructions as to how they should work and they way they should work within LBH.I understand the Police were called to one development and popped around 6 illegals into a lock up at Heathrow.  They were going to use the new legislation to prosecute the employer and were then told by immigration that as they were Indian illegals, they weren't a priority and they had to let them go.  What a waste of time and we are all fooled into believing these laws are there for a purpose and planning laws are there to regulate the way builders work and support the community around any development.  Is it that the law makers don’t know how to use the legislation but the law beakers do?  This developer has already told a group of neighbours he knows all the loopholes and can do anything he likes as he has the right contacts.  The poor people next door must be worried sick about the damp?  Why on earth would you take the roof off, when rain is forecast?

The first night there wasn’t any protective plastic along the roof line – they had it in place for the second night of rain.  No other protection for the adjoining wall and next doors bedroom.
