Dissertation Research Survey - The Brentford Community Stadium & Social Capital

Hello everyone. I am a master's student and employee of Havering Borough Council who is investigating the effects of the Brentford Community Stadium on social capital for my dissertation.In order to gather views of residents about project and its impacts, I would be very grateful if you would participate in a short survey to help me understand your views about how the stadium proposed has affected Brentford's local community. Without any reply to our valid observations and responses made to this "New Topic" it seems the poster has preceded to post an identical request for help on the Chiswick W4 forum.We repeat...it is NOT a proposed Stadium.. it's already here... enhancing and uplifting those who attend as well.After a recent game (4-0!) I wandered past the new skyscrapers and was quite impressed by the quality of the build and the feel.PS: What is required to get a Master's Degree?

Just a small point re the redevelopment of Griffin Park.  The planning permission has lapsed.  Any new plans will have to be submitted from scratch.  The redesign - incorporating the 2 large blocks of flats at the centre of what was originally agreed as a garden area surrounded by houses - was never formally submitted.  I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the current stagnation of the demolition - no recent news for local residents.  Anyway, I await the new plans with baited breath, as I've done for the last many years.....

I did my best to answer the survey but felt it was all a bit passe.I agree with the part of your sentence 'The nice new stadium ... has lost some of that inbuilt and intertwined community spirit that felt unique to Brentford ...' and built such a comment into my response to the survey. I also commented on the fact that I can't comment on whether '[T]he nice new stadium is pretty good ...' as there are still no tours for 'outsiders'. I've checked with the club twice and have received responses that only Season Ticket holders and Members are offered tours which seems pretty exclusive to me. The only advice given is to keep looking at the website.

I noticed this as every question is in the past tense and things have moved on.Most notably that during construction a planning application was lodged and approved which reduced the capacity of the stadium and did away with the 'Community Facilities' which were very much at the heart of the original application and subsequent approval. As well as the general local approval of the Griffin Park redevelopment which similarly has now got a revised and much larger development application lodged.And where were the Community Sports trust when Gunnersbury turned the screw on the Bowls club facility - a genuine sport for all.? Despite being a lifelong fan and elated at the teams performance, I can't help thinking that the local community and fans who were largely supportive have been used and conned a bit. The nice new stadium is pretty good, very well run inside but has lost some of that inbuilt and intertwined community spirit that felt unique to Brentford and set it aside head and shoulders from others.But this survey seems like a rehash of something from 4 years ago

I'm a bit confused.You mention "proposed stadium" when our new Stadium has already been constructed, opened and tested (we scored 4 against Manchester United!).I have never seen the words "Social Capital" before.Is it new Local Government terminology?Apologies for my negative response.
