Mosquitos bites in Brentford?

How come I've been attacked by mosquitos, having mini bits of my fresh removed...leaving an itchy red wound.?And golly they are annoying!We have a lovely clean River just down the Road.. and we are assured that Thames Water pays a lot of attention to keeping it clean following concerns and after key visits from Ann Keen and Mary Macleod our MP's.Are you suffering too?

Thank you for  your replies...the lemon and perfume sprays will raise a few eyebrows perhaps.. but these bites are so horrible that any embarrassment will be tolerated!Sarah: I did see that product at Boots.. but the odd shape of the container (more like a sewing thimble) deterred me.But it's now back on the shopping list.I sympathise with residents in Isleworth who used to complain about Mogden bites years ago.I can only assumed that the distasteful content of the nearby River Thames encourages the little pests.Looking at old maps one sees that there were plenty of filter beds where the Haverfield Estate now is located..so that's another part of the problem..maybe.

A friend who is well travelled suggested rubbing your exposed arms legs and neck etc with a lemon segment. That was some years ago and found it works really well. Cheap and easy.But locally there are some real nasties, mosquitos, unavoidable near canals and water.  Horse Flies ( usually unheard of in urban areas) and some very nasty biting insects and ticks and a lot of now very common in parks. Blonde Park was alive with them at the weekend and I think that is a risk foo far for wilding a public park.And, not expecting that did not do the lemon thing !! Doh!  And I said cheap and easy....remembering is the hard bit!

Sorry to hear, Jim.  As Margaret says Skin so soft from Avon is supposed to be the go to product for our military.  There was some discussion as to whether the formula had been fiddled with, I don’t know if that’s the case.  We bought a bite relief click it from Boots last year which seemed to help.“ Boots Bite Relief Click-It. 6871844  £5.99 “

I spray myself with Skin So Soft by Avon. It works well to deter them
