The Queen's (RIP) Cortege to Windsor  via GWR Brentford?

Local Facebook pages report that the Great West Road is being tidied up in view of Monday's procession to Windsor.One had anticipated that the Cortege would travel along the A4 out of London, over the Hammersmith Flyover and through Chiswick on the A4 (not Chiswick  High Road!) up over Chiswick Flyover..and continue on the M4 out to Windsor.But the serious weeding taking place on the Great West Road (not seen it myself..but others say so) suggests that the Cortege will leave the M4 early at Clayponds Lane.. near the old Beecham building..passing our local road junctions to Osterley and beyond.. and probably taking the Great South West Road to Staines by-pass.This route is not official..but a suggestion. Confirmation awaited. Weeding continues!

I wonder if the cortege will run into the Regular Supercar Cortege of the G.W. Rd ?

Judging by the sheer amount of police activity along the A4 yesterday with groups of officers in baseball caps and the like and the number of dog units about I would think the A4 route looks increasingly likely.

Seems to be no mention except there is 2 hours factored in to get from Hyde Park Corner to Windsor.This ample time to take the A4 route with a clear run. In fact it can be done in normal traffic well within that.But it would be nice to know sooner rather than on the day.

Amazing that it takes a death to finally clean up the disgusting state of the A4 through Brentford.There is no rush to whizz her to Windsor and lining the M4 ( or indeed trying to prevent it getting lined with grieving public ) is neither safe or practicable.  But the A4 route to Windsor gives a great many the opportunity to see and bid her farewell.Given that the Festival at Gunnersbury will cause public transport chaos for West Londoners trying to get to or from Westminster this weekend, many will be denied the chance. So this would be an appropriate option.  And as pointed out it is the Historical Route and the M4 did not exist at the beginning of her Reign.Lets hope so.

The Queen Mother's cortege travelled via the A4. I saw it pass at the junction near the Great West Quarter.

When the Queen was returning to London after the death of her father she travelled along the Great West Road. I stood along by the Windmill Road junction and saw her pass by.
