DfT revises minor road traffic estimates.
The Department for Transport has revised its estimates of minor road traffic between 2009 and 2019. The new data, which it says is more accurate, shows no change in traffic levels on these roads in London over that period. The previous data massively overestimated the numbers and was used as a prime reason for introducing LTNs and other restrictions.Of course Hounslow, a beacon of irrational decision making, won’t change its policies and has indeed informed residents of Swyncombe Avenue that the ‘temporary’ part closure of that key link road is to be made permanent. A decision that surprises nobody. At all.Still, the likes of Lambert and co will have to find some other made up stats to support more of their silly policies. Though doubtless pollution from construction will continue to be omitted from the net zero calculations.Read the report here; https://www.gov.uk/government/statistics/road-traffic-estimates-in-great-britain-2021/minor-road-traffic-estimates-review-frequently-asked-questions#why-are-previously-published-minor-road-traffic-estimates-being-revised
