How come we get no notification  of a Battle of Brentford WALK

Today ..early Tuesday...one reads that a WALK took place on Sunday LAST concerning the Battle of Brentford... perhaps of much iñterest to localsThe meeting place one reads was in Market Square at 10am ish.No notification of the key event on the Front Page here .... not even in the CALENDAR SECTION.Um. Perhaps this is not the site for historical matters. Just Flat Flats Flats.

Thank you Val.I used to think that this valuable website would hoover up all the local happenings and publish them here in one big batch.I was wrong. What an opportunity missed.There is generally a CALENDAR COLUMN on the front page here.Is Kath Richardson still Editor?

We place it on the front page of the Brentford & Chiswick Local History society's website at brentfordandchiswicklhs.org.uk as soon as we knew about it. If you are interested in local history you can subscribe to the website and receive notification each time there is new news story posted

The walk was organised by the Battlefields Trust. It also included the Battle of Turnham Green in the afternoon.I suggest those interested, view the Battlefields Trust web site.

The Brentford walks used to meet at Goddard's Corner. I take it from what you say that the meeting place is now the Market Square.You pay the leader £3.00 to join the walk.

It seems very odd. There are well known local organisers of such tours who do things but then others who seem to usurp them and are often not local and yet are funded.But it's true that almost everything going on or coming up gets publicised after the event, and locals never seem to get invited or properly informed.One of the big failings of Social Media reliance is how many get frozen out and I think in many cases it's quite deliberate.  Another form of prejudice.
