Only political parties and elected members are permitted to have a copy of the Full Register, which may only be used for "electoral purposes and to facilitate the democratic process"It is a criminal offence, carrying a maximum fine of £5000.00 and the disqualification from office, for anyone disclosing information from the Full Register (unless the information is also contained in the Edited Register), otherwise than for any statutory reason by which they were supplied with the Full Register. Each political party has what is known as a "Nominated" officer, this is normally the Election Agent, and it is to them that the Register is sent. The nominated officer is responsible for ensuring that the law is adhered to within their offices. When you receive the registration form each year, you are required to tick a box to indicate that you do not wish to be included in the Edited Register. When my form arrived this year it already had the box ticked, presumably because I had ticked it previously. The new register will be published on 1st December, If you wish to confirm that you are registered to vote and are not included on the Edited Register, I suggest that you contact the Electoral Registration Office at the Civic Centre after the 1st. The title, Electoral Roll, is the old name for the register which, as far as I know, is no longer used.John Davies, Nominated Officer for the local Conservative Party.
