Brentford High Line Meeting

Sad to have missed this but would be really interested to hear a report of proceedings from anyone who attended. There is clearly great potential for this site to become a real asset to the area.

If you are meaning the development or otherwise of the disused embankment near to Commerce Road, there is a short drone footage on Brentford TV Debate not Hate which you might find interesting. I think John Dale said that he would put the recording of the meeting on the same site - maybe he will, maybe he won't.

Along with the High Line in NYC, the 606 in Chicago is another great example of railway line repurposing for the community. I had the pleasure of running along this route in October:https://www.the606.org/

I attended this meeting and if this project can be brought off it would be absolutely marvellous, and a brilliant addition and attraction for Brentford. The only thing I'd say is that the biggest fly in the ointment is having to deal with L.B. Hounslow, you would need all your powers of patience, diplomacy and sheer bloody mindedness to survive their involvement. Being involved in a far smaller project in Isleworth since late 2015 I have learned this lesson. Do not be fooled by talk of 'engagement, 'community' and 'listening' - it is just that - talk.

Missed this, but what a great idea and yet again it takes local people who know their town to have a great idea. I really hope it does not get meddled and altered by the Council machine and that they really do let this develop by the community for the community and not to end up being claimed by politics and authority and ending up half baked.Good Luck and well done to those who have clearly put some great research and work into a strong and rather nice idea.

I attended the meeting and it seemed to me, from most in attendance (including 4? local Councillors), that a 'light touch' approach was preferred to anything too managed. The nature is already there and perhaps all that is needed is a pathway through and a number of access points. It was acknowledged that disabled access may not be so easy to achieve, I think due to the height of the embankment. A couple of points to do with safety were raised. Nothing is decided yet and the consultations will go ahead. That's about how I remember it, anyway.
