In a similar vein, much like a lot of things put out on/near the pavement these days, I have quite often seen boxes of books put out for people to take. Only today I helped myself to a still wrapped book mark from somebody's wall along South Ealing Road. (Not that I approve generally of the general dumping of stuff on the pavement which seems to have become a phenomenon in recent years.)

Yes, I have seen a number of book exchanges including a small one on a wall on the left as you travel towards Richmond. There used to be (still is?) one near (to the back of) Chiswick Library. I have seen a few in de-commissioned red phone boxes in Cornwall also.
There is a book exchange just by the weir in Brentford Lock area. I have also seen similar in a front garden in Cheesewick

Lovely idea. Hope it gets stuff to those in local and direct need. How does the stuff stay dry? Should a donation be covered in a plastic cover?
