Decluttering > Books > Book Banks? > suggestions

Sadly I've reached the age(84) and with perhaps some medical conditions where I need to declutterI'm holding onto my history books for the moment but I have many others that will have to go.On Chiswick High Road at the Stamford Brook Bus Garage stop ... I discovered a BOOK BANK. I have started leaving books there...for others to take.There  also a book bank on THE ISLAND (Security Office) in Brentford.Any other places where I can donate.. and where others can take freely?

Thank you did speak to different librarian's but all didn't know.Contacted different people within Hounslow Council  who all said they would find out.. Nothing Only wanted to know, now given up.

Mari suggested the Book Shelving in the entrance hall of Northfields Station. Thanks for that Mari. I semi filled the shelves on Tuesday.Will be visiting the other places suggested. Thanks Keith and all.

There's a book drop by the lock at Brentford and also one on the Dock Rd.entrance to the Dock Estate.

That's a very caring activity David for which your gestures are surely much appreciated.I delivered a few more books (Chunky Chambers Dictionary  and a Stanley Gibbons 1951 Postage Stamp Catalogue etc) to the Stamford Brook bus garage Book Cabinet ..and was pleased to see that my previous donations had been taken.Today I'll visit Northfields Station.I'll gather up a box of books  for you David and make contact.It's therapeutic they say!

Used to leave books and magazines on bookcase at Brentford library entrance but haven't seen bookcase there recently.  Occasionally bring up large boxes to St. John's in Mattock Lane, Ealing W5 and ACTON HOMELESS CONCERN  - (EMMAUS HOUSE & DAMIEN CENTRE)  5 Berrymead Gardens, London, W3 8AA  who are also very grateful for clothing as well.

For many years I have been buying books from local librarys and taking then to sheltered homes within Hounslow . Including Harnage. Do what you wish but if you want I can take some of your hands.

Thank you for your suggestions Audrey,Jim,Marie and Thelma. Just what I was seeking.So there are some places around Audrey...but not many ... certainly  not in the case re front gardens. It will take me some weeks to dispose of say 100.... it will be interesting to see which books are taken and which not!I will pop along to the Heart Foundation Shop in Hounslow.  I suppose at the end of the day...things will have to GO!Best wishes to you all.

There is also a set of bookshelves at Acton Central railway station where you can leave books (and pick them up, if so inclined!)

Hi Jim, I have left books at Northfields tube station. As you enter the station from Northfields Ave, there is a book shelf on the left hand side.

Hi Jim I don't know if you have libraries called "Little Free Libraries" there. These are little cupboards that people set up in their front gardens for people to drop off books for others to pick up to read. There is no need to return to the same library. It was very popular here during Covid and we thoroughly enjoyed many books this way as the regular library was closed. Here we can look this up on Google and find a map of where these libraries are local to where we live. Good luck with decluttering Jim, we did a bit today but it only made a tiny dent!!
