" Well, naturalists disagree with you. One of the main reason for removing a number of trees was following the advice from environmentalists who pointed out there was very little life below the trees or in the pond "Then I can only suggest you employ differerent naturalists Guy. Becaue had you been speaking fromexperience, rather than simply repeating verbatime all the nonsense you were being fed by consultants at presentations, you'd have realised that Boston Manor were very fortunate for one, in hosting a thriving flock of colourful (the males anyway) Manadarin Ducks, maybe one of the few in the whole of London. These ducks being surprisinglt shy by nature roosted in the undergrowth at the side of the pond, all of which has been reduced to mud; are so are unlikly ever to return. In addition to Manadrins the pond also featured a flock of Tufted Ducks in addition to the expected Mallards and the rather more unwelcome Canada Geese. For a couple of seasons it also hosted a pair of swans. All of the above can be attested by any of the families who used to regularly visit the pond with its abundantvariety of ducks now replaced by floating rubbish andseagulls surrounded by a sea of mud. Now amply supplied it must be admitted by som sturdy benched from which toadmire the view. What's been done to the pond in Boston Manor Park is nothing short of wanten vandalism. And of course we were, and are, being spoon fed the sameuncritical regurgitated nonsense over Gunnersbury Park - now reduced to a swampo after rain - and now the bridgeover the canal. michael adams
