Union Jack flag displays in parts of West London.

I much enjoyed a trip on the 211 bus route today from Hammersmith Bus Station to Victoria.It's an interesting route anyway...but at the present time the display of Union Jacks on the street lampposts in Fulham and Pimlico were a sight to give me pride and delight.Returning home via Chiswick and Brentfordfelt like being in a different world in "Coronation speak"Such indifference was unknown back in 1953.What's happened?

'What's happened?'.Multiculturalism for one thing,and a more sceptical mindset regarding royalty especially since Elizabeth died.I am not a staunch royalist, to me they are a necessary evil.The only one I had time for has gone.

Castle Pub seen from the Bus in South Ealing looks splendid. Really tasteful and special.  Well done to whoever did that.

Regent Street and Oxford Street were in top form this evening with their decorations as expected.... pleasantly observed from the front seat on the top deck of the 94 bus from Turnham Green Station.I liked the decoration on top of the bus shelters in particular.In Brentford...the Great West Quarter has made a timid effort ... and local media reports on the delights of South Ealing Road (east side). No doubt Enfield Road will look splendid. Otherwise its a complete flop locally.

It's also been poor weather for some weeks and still cold more than it's been warm and of course only the very fortunate have ££££s and time to spend revelling.Compare that to 1953 when almost everyone was on a level playing field with rationing and make do and mend the order of the time.

A friend wanted to go into The Works in Twickenham to get some 'red, white and blue' while we were out today. There was no bunting to be found and the shopkeeper said that they sold out weeks ago. Maybe the shop hadn't ordered enough or it could be that many people bought and are decorating their own house or garden.Church Street in Twickenham is nicely decked out but then that particular street lends itself to the occasion.

Good question. Very little in both Ealing and Hounslow Is it we are now so indifferent from all the manipulation and undermining from so many angles that the spirit and certainly the British spirit has been made to feel like a shame rather than a pride.  Apathy is not just confined to politics but many aspects of civility and community.But Union Jack Bunting along the main streets lacking and it has to be remembered that it is the British Flag and represents all who are British and not the odd faction here and there.
