Man who used to live under the M4 at Chiswick roundabout

Did anyone find out about the history of his circumstances?

There was another man who lived there before - a large black man with a bicycle and trailer, popularly known as 'Chicken George' - certainly to the local schoolkids (I'm thinking 1980's/1990's)He was rumoured to have been killed in a cycle accident, but I've no idea if it's true.

IIRC Chicken George was down by Performance Cars near Windmill Road. Seem to remember him both there when walking home from games at Griffin Park and also around the little café on Brook Road North.

I know the cafe and I knew (not personally, he was not easy to befriend) but he lived in precisely the same place as the more recent guy. I lived in that area for a long time, and he roamed across Chiswick on his bike. Somebody I knew who lived in Wavendon Avenue threatened her children with him if they got naughty.

Thanks Huy, I certainly passed him a good few times walking back from Griffin Park and he was always by Performance Cars.

I heard a good while ago that the owner of  the  Boston Sandwich Bar - opposite Brentford Station paid for the man's funeral, if so fair play.

He was indeed Phil, because a group of heartless bastards once threw a load of spoons at him from a car.I also recall a local rumour,quite possibly myth, that Chicken George,who I often saw in Ealing,was a fairly rich man but 'lost it' after a divorce or bereavement.But sometimes a rumour has run a marathon before the truth gets its boots on.

His name was John Dwyer  A GoFundMe has been set up to put a permanent memorial in place by Georgina Eales, who grew up in Brentford.The appeal reads: "I'm a local girl from Brentford and I remember this man all throughout my childhood. This man has lived under the A4 flyover for decades, this was his home.I believe Georgina and Hounslow council worked together to arrange his funeral.There was also a poem written long before he passed by Poet Cecelia Grant-Peters, 60, told MyLondon that she had written a touching poem on his life.The poem titled 'The Rage in Albion' was based of an encounter she had had with the man in 2010.
