Oh! Brentford!...sometimes.

...I wonder about my beloved Football Club.New season kit announced and what has it got? A Betting sponsor emblazoned across the shirt.With all the focus on Brentford and it's betting addiction victim star player it just makes one wince. I know the club has benefitted from an owner whose core is a betting business, but then the Brentford Community Stadium is the GTEC Community Stadium. A choice of sponsor that broke away from the plethora of Betting sponsors and is also a British Company.So what were they thinking? It's going to send out globally the wrong message every time they play and poor old Mr. Toney when he returns, will have a shirt of which the irony won't be lost.It's a club that's made massive efforts at family attendances and I have no issues with betting or gambling but like other adult vices, do think a line should be drawn. Should an 8 year old be wearing a shirt with a betting or alcohol sponsor emblazoned on it?

Brentford of course being the first team in the Premier league to announce that each replica strip would have a life of at least two years saving fans money. Having two changes (i.e. three) of strip is IIRC dictated by the Premier League.  At least we are not charging £130 per shirt unlike Arsenal.

My beefs with replica shirts have nothing to do with sponsorship. No, rather 1) do they really have three strips? and 2) why do they always wear the away kit when playing away. That sounds daft but in former times you only wore the away kit if there was a clash of colours with the host team. The current arrangement is 100% aimed at parting bovine fans from their money. They'll all adults, I suppose. But still...

I get all of that and broadly agree. I have to confess occasionally to wearing my 1970s Brentford replica kit to matches. Nice collar and no number, player or sponsorship, just Bees logo.

I would never wear a football shirt,although I love football and the two teams I have a place in my heart for.A middle aged man in a football shirt with the name of his favourite player emblazoned on the back strikes me as mildly pathetic,if there are degrees of it.I do have a signed replica of the shirt worn by Sir Bobby in the 1968 European Cup Final.it just about fits, although looks in places like it is spray painted on.Far too precious to wear though

That's good to know. Mind you Investments is a form of GamblingI wonder if Mr.Toney would have been censured if he had invested in a load of speculative developments of ventures?Personally I don't want to wear a shirt with any logos by sponsors. Just the club Logo

The junior kit is sponsored by PensionBee a pensions and 8nvestment company. This will be the last two years of the contract with Hollywoodbets after which you will see a new shirt sponsor.
