New development of 13 properties

A new development is being proposed to build 13 two storey properties on the land between Hamilton road and the railway track with access via the creation of a new access road onto Hamilton road.

"The trouble with individual meetings" -  - is that people can be swayed by sales talk.- these meetings are not open and accountable- people can (by the nature of individuals wanting to get their sale) deliver varied or slanted information - or things are then left open to this as an accusation.Individual meetings with an "independent" minute taker to use the information for a summary would be better.

The trouble with large meetings is that they are often dominated by a few vocal participants who tend to put others off speaking. A strong Chair can keep them limited in their contributions but it is still very hard to draw some other people out. When developers expect opposition they will try to see people on an individual basis, making it easier to allow those on their side to have an equal say.Nothing wrong with this in itself - it's the job of Councillors and planning officers to make sure that they have an accurate representation of the feelings of the affected community.

Talking to individuals in this manner can make people feel isolated and would be a 'neat' way of making a sale and closing a time share deal?

I have also spoken to the developers who after a second call confirmed the Free Church would the meeting place. Somehow they are talking to individuals and are booking 15 minutes slots with each one between 3 and 8 PM to answer questions.

My big concern about this is that the representative who came to my house made reference to the meeting taking place at St Peters Church in Boston Manor Road.  I queried the name of the church at the time and the guy confirmed that a number of people had also queried the name and had given either St Pauls or the Free Church as an option.  I suggested that he made people aware of the confusion over the name and get them to call the developer for clarification.  I have now called the developer and the way they describe the location I think they mean the Free Church, however I am still not clear.  I have asked them to get back to me to confirm the location of the meeting and said that they should confirm the details in writing to the residents of Hamilton Road so that we can at least attend.  About as clear as mud! This does not bode well for the future!

I heard about this yesterday. The developer - or, rather, the PR company they have hired - are organising a day where residents can meet the architects, look at the plans etc. It's next Wednesday at either St Pauls Church or the Free Church. The plans seem to involve demolishing the bungalow mid-way down Hamilton Road and putting the new houses between the existing properties and the railway line.I'll be going along on Wednesday and I'm happy to raise any issues for residents that are unable to attend.
