Labour Candidate For Brentford West Is Not Even From Brentford

You could not make it up. How more insulting can Labour be to the residents of Brentford West than to field a candidate who does not even live here but comes from Bedfont. What does she know about local issues it really is taking the local electorate for mugs.

Thats very true and that 600 plus club really needs a good sort out. There are disgraceful MPs on all sides. Its down to trust at the end of the day and there will be a huge change coming. Just for the record Brentford Dock is part of that Syon ward and I was not aware that Theo was ever on the Board of Brentford Dock although one Councillor is representing their (LBH) interests here.

What we are finding out as things go along - is just how daft some of our MPs are, and how iffy the selection process for council seats is. Some of what goes on just beggars belief.

Yes, Brentford Lock. I am pretty sure the same Councillors cover the Dock though.Let's face it, anyone would be better than the absent Councillor, a true disgrace. Too bad for his 'colleagues'.

He was never a Councillor for Brentford Dock, maybe it was a typo but you should have said “Brentford Lock” Please get your facts right. He actually got over 800 votes and I did vote for him. He would have been a whole lot better than the absent Councillor.

Yes, the issue of Waterman's sure has been a gift to Theo. I am wondering, although of course don't know, just how frequent a visitor he was to the facility.I would be wary of somebody, an ex Labour Councillor for Syon and Brentford Dock, who so obviously has an axe to grind.

Quite frankly I don't know what input there was into the suitability of any of the candidates standing for their party - apart from the one who deems himself to be suitable. I suppose that came down to the pressures of time.I am assuming you are a member of the Conservative Party and that's okay too.

I would like to know what Theo Dennison stands for apart from the Watermans. Does anyone know?  Perhaps the candidate himself could enlighten us.I cannot bring myself to vote either Tory or Labour but would be very interested in an independent with common sense who has the interests of local people at heart and approaches local issues unfettered by party dogma.  And a cycling obsessive will NOT get my vote!

What is scandalous, is that that this situation has gone on for almost two years and no-one has done a damned thing about it, they all seem terrified of rocking the boat and asking a perfectly reasonable question - why is this tolerated?

Stick a rosette on a donkey and they will still vote Labour. That sadly is the situation. I had a Labour rep call on me and I asked what they would do as regards workers rights? He said they will consult with the employers first. Could not really answer any of my questions.

When the absent non-active Councillor was selected to stand by members of the local Labour Party ...they should have been aware of the gentleman's shortcomings otherwise their interviewing technique was flawed.This strikes me as a fine example of "stick a rosette on the backside of a donkey" and a mass of unenlightened  Syon voters will still vote Labour.What a shambles.

We have had an absent Councillor since he was elected. Never seen or heard what he is doing for the Syon residents.

We have just lost Lara (from Chiswick) and we still have Marina (from Feltham). Both of them were or are outstanding councillors. Ask the residents if you doubt it.I am perfectly sure Emma will be equally outstanding. There are two candidates who live in the ward. I only just met the Green candidate, Freya, who I liked. The other is Theo Dennison. If I lived in the ward and had a vote (I live in Syon Ward) I would certainly back Emma, with Freya placed second.

I never thought of the people of Brentford.as being "poor and decepit"but I'm sure they can make up their own minds as to the right party to vote for.

I would assume the candidate is someone who will say YES YES whatever the Labour leader tells her to say to us poor decreped voters as that is what HE thinks we are,but hopefully the good people of Brentford will see sence and not vote for her or any Labour candidate

I don't live in Brentford but I have to agree with you - it is preferable that the parties field local candidates who live or work in the ward. If I were a ward member and I had not been able to participate in a normal selection process, but had someone else's choice parachuted in, then I'm afraid I too would take a very dim view of this, and I'd be telling the geniuses behind this that they could get out and do the canvassing and leafletting, but because I as sure as hell wouldn't. With the Waterman's debacle and this insult I have to agree - this is taking the local electorate for mugs.
