Six Bells

To learn that The Six Bells has been sold  off by Fullers  is extremely upsetting. I have met so many  brilliant people over the last  couple  of years,  and  landlady Jacquie and her business  partner Karen have worked wonders to revive  the place and turn it into an essential  community hub. Amazing food, fantastic entertainment, and the staff are warm and genuine. Three weeks ago a Charity Event for Parkinson’s UK was organised, and £3000 was raised  on the day.  In this bizarre unpredictable world, we  need places  like The Bells.

Do you have any reason to believe that Jacquie and Karen will be leaving? Although the involvement of a private equity company is a red flag, Fuller's aren't all sweetness and light when it comes to their tenants. A couple running one of their pubs in Ealing quit a year or so ago. Also the sale offers comfort that the site isn't going to be developed. If there was any chance of that, Fuller's would have taken it as they have at other sites.

It’s a brilliant pub. The Christmas Grotto and  bus tour is unsurpassed, amazing food,  and top Entertainment. An absolute travesty if the management team is removed. They have totally revamped the  pub, and do many  wonderful  relationships have been formed. So upsetting.

I'm assuming that as part of the deal the lease is transferred over to the new owner and the pub will continue with Jacquie and Karen for now at least. Whether Admiral Taverns will be better or worse freeholders than Fullers remains to be seen. If you look at their web site they are very big on the idea of community pubs but, as a private equity company they will be wanting to get a return. Getting rid of popular and competent tenants would not help them achieve that.
