Will we have a white Christmas?

Vyborg - http://www.vbg.ru/Fresh snow and snow graphics on the web site.I heard that as the Berwick swan has arrived from Siberia much earlier than usual - they are expecting a big freeze.  As I don't have any swans to go by - next doors cat, Bill has been meowing at our back door (he only talks to us when he has a problem) and another neighbours cat, Stevie, won't move from under the radiator - so can we expect the same?   ...   ;-)   ... ?

Glad to hear you are home Doris. California is taking a pounding with this rain. Around here roads are flooded and streams that are normally so gentle and pretty are raging torrents! Plenty of mud slides, especially in the West hills. Why anyone would want to live on the side of a hill with pylons for foundation is beyond me.

Hi Audrey, thanks for the Christmas and New Year wishes. My best wishes to you for the New Year.  We have just returned from a trip to California to spend Christmas with our family. The trip down was very wet, and the journey home was nightmarish, took three days! I think we saw more "road closed signs" than I had ever seen before. I never was so thankful to be home safe and sound. We drove through snow and flooded roads everywhere. Next time I think we will fly!!

Hi Doris, thanks for your comments. Yes we only go out if we have to. We had thought of a trip to the beach for the holidays but that drive really is bad. Our son and daughter in law will venture that way this Friday for a few days! Right now we have rain, who knows what we will have tomorrow!! Audrey it is not freezing here on the coast,but it is very wet, temperatures at about 51 degrees.    Thank goodness you do not get those ice storms too often in Portland. I wonder why they do not put the electric wires underground would be so much better. Take care, stay home if you can.

Hi Gerry! Well the weather completely messed up Portland yesterday afternoon. Because ice builds up on the overhead lines of our light rail system they planned to run the trains every 10 minutes through the night. Didn't work though, trains were stuck with people on board early this morning. Over 8,000 homes are without electricity. Temperature should get up to 38 forecasters tell us. Would be nice to be at the coast right now!

Mornin' Audrey, your neighbourhood seems so well laid out and spacious, unlike little old Ealing - we're packed like sardines with little room to turn a car let alone swing a cat. Its a lovely mild and sunny day here in west London and I'll shortly be going out to play tennis at our club which is in Pitshanger. Looks like you gonna have a lovely white Christmas in sunny Oregon. Cheers.  ;-)

Greetings Sarah! I hope we have a white Christmas. Many years ago, I bought an old fashioned little sledge for my grandchildren - its in our shed, still with all its wrappings on. I'm praying for a Vyborg type white-out!
