Lord John Prescott  RIP

Some readers, only some, will be saddened by today's news of the death of John Prescott ... a notable Labour politician from years ago.Amusing tales surrounding him abound.It was a little cruel for blaming  him for having "two jags ...in fairness, two old jags in times past were needed to be sure one was working.He came to Brentford once I recall.He dined at "Pappadums" on Ferry Quays with Mrs Ann Keen the local MP.  On expenses no doubt!

Afraid I never liked (two Jags give me my own motorway lane). I know a local guy who served with him in the merchant navy who said many of the crew wanted to throw him overboard.

Well, like most politicians he did as he pleases while telling the rest of us how to live our lives. Presumably he put plenty of energy in when he slept with his secretary. Oh yes, and voted for war in Iraq. Impressive.

I remember him telling atv reported when he was temporary Prime Minister when Blair was on holiday. words to the effect that he didn't understand how to send an email.Impressove.

A real Labour politician, before the middle classes encroached. People responded to him, and Tony Blair was right - he did reach the parts that he was unable to. Pity we haven't got a lot more like him now.
