M&S coming to Brentford?

I know these articles appear very often and there may not be much substance to them but Brentford appears to be ticking some boxes for M&S. The suggestion is that it would be a Simply Food outlet rather than a full line store so it could be just a shop at a petrol station.https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/ms-shares-wish-list-over-34247090

Ballymore have said that there are no more plans for retail other than those already announced. H&B and rather excitedly Wagamama. But not all of Brentford is owned by Ballymore so perhaps m&s could take a small unit.Lets hope the big names attract more big names. Because what sometimes happens is that they close a few years later as the discounted rent period ends. Im positive that Brentford will start to blossom. Something weve been promised for decades.

Yes I also read that Holland and Barrett are moving in next to Specsavers.They will certainly get my custom. M and S no I do not want them, Asda would be much better and cheaper. Morrissons has become very expensive much more so than Asda. As mentioned before its cheaper to drive to Whitton to shop and they not anti car like LBH!

I agree with most of that, though I don't think we were promised what you suggest. I believe the cinema is coming this year but there was never a commitment to have an Arts Centre or a public health club.Workshops for local artisans was never promised either: to a degree there has been something from that temporarily, mainly via the partnership they have with the Duke which has a couple of car restoration businesses, a cobbler and a bike mechanic.The issue of a lack of space for local artistic and artisan businesses, and other community businesses, is a small tragedy. I have tried to help with that but in the end it has led to me leaving the Labour party having achieved very little in that respect.

I think any "Hint" from Ballymore should be taken with a large pinch of saltI'm sure i remember way back years ago before all this started talk of a 5 screen cinema, arts center, heath club that would be available to all.. not just people who could afford to live in the new flats.. all though its very nice they put up big pictures everywhere so us locals can see what were missing out on LOL.... workshops for local artisans. The list go's on. I think we have to realize this is a large company that really just want to sell flats and hire people who,s job it is to speculate and drive up interest. Nothing wrong with that its what all large company's do.

I believe, from the latest I've heard, that it is Holland & Barrett that is coming. They are, I think, taking the shop next to SpecSavers.

Great to see something optimistic. Having looked at the M&S announcement, I think they are much more likely to be looking on the A4 - perhaps there will be an opportunity in ex-GSK or what I still think of as ex-Honeywell.A simply food on the High St to complement Lidl and Morrisons would be very welcome. There was talk of M&S on part of the old Morrisons site. Not going to happen now but could somewhere

If there is to be an M&S I think they will get a mad rush of locals in at about 5.30-6pm every evening.

If I remember correctly - don't pay full attention to online meetings - the powers that be were talking about the area which will be built down where Rye by the Water used to be.

I wouldn't hold your breath. When The Oaks in Acton was rebuilt there were constant rumours that it was to have an M&S or a Waitrose.It has a Lidl, not that that isn't useful.

Ballymore have hinted at all sorts of interest for some years, amongst which was Waitrose being interested in the store that is now Morrisons.  I'll believe it if M&S actually confirm it. I think it is very unlikely - though it would be great.  In reality it could be any national company but likely to be a bit more downmarket than M&S.

At an online meeting recently the Ballymore rep. said something tantalising along the lines of a big name showing interest in coming to Brentford. As with all things, it may come to nothing but I was left wondering 'who' and 'what'?
