Police Bike
ISLEWORTH residents and their groups and associations, working with the community-led Isleworth Community Safety Forum (ICSF), have donated several hundred pounds to purchase a bicycle for local beat officer Chris McLean which will help him to patrol the neighbourhood (see photograph). The vehicle cost in excess of £600, a significant chunk of which was committed by Ivybridge residents' group Ivytag. The presentation - attended by representatives from the ICSF, ICG, The Isleworth Society, Worple Avenue Residents' Association and Ivytag, as well as of the Council's Community Initiaitves Partnership (CIP) - followed the news that PC McLean has been granted the rent-free use of an office in Isleworth Public Hall, which will be made available to him in January. These substantial achievements provide an excellent example of what can be done when the community works independently of political control, but in collaboration in a spirit of mutual trust and goodwill with approachable departments and officers of the local authority. This kind of teamwork should be the model for any new administration at the Civic Centre following the local council elections in May.Photo to Come....
