Foxes

As lovely as the foxes are to see, I have noticed they are now climbing and sleeping on the cars in our local area. Sadly my vehicle has been badly scratched. Has anyone else had this issue?

In defence of cats. We have had many cats over the years and contrary to popular belief - only one was a 'birder'. One though was an amazing mouser, and brought many home - with some rats, from the local allotments. The others only very occasionally went after birds, as I too would chase them away. If you watch a cat watching birds through a window it is very amusing - their teeth chatter like mad, while their heads try and follow the birds flying.

I feed the small garden birds every day and when I see a fat,lazy,overfed domestic cat on the prowl to try and catch a bird so it can toy with it for a while in my garden,I shoo them off good and proper.

We have many foxes around here and do feed several, why blame the animals when humans have encroached relentlessly on their natural habitat? They have been mating recently witness the racket at night. My husband's bugbear are squirrels - they do like a dig and one has recently been munching the buds on one of our roses, the cat finds them fascinating and is still trying to work out exactly what the hell they are I think.

I hate the foxes. They leave filth everywhere, scare our rabbits, and chew through all kinds of things in the garden. They even came in our house last summer and left a 'present' for us. I've tried to paste a picture of the brazen lot on here, but it doesn't seem to alow photos...Anyway, I plan to get an Uzi 9mm. I suspect some may object, but I doubt my neighbours will. Any ideas where I can get one. Amazon, I assume...

They come down Braemar just about every night - I hear them. Also, now and again I see one in my back yard which backs on to Mafeking.

It is foxes. I have a photo of one curled up on the roof of a car directly parked in front of mine, taken as I get in my vehicle. It never moved. They are both seen and heard all day every day in Brook Road South and Mafeking Ave.

Plus of course the rubbish created by about 500 flats is held there until the waste lorry calls. Though I have never seen any bags dragged out and the contents eaten

Curiosity in the first instance perhaps, looking for a meal? Or simply looking for somewhere not quite so cold to spend the night when outside temperatures with wind chill factor are under zero.

What would attract a fox to an underground car park? Shelter, perhaps, but what else? Just curious.

Some local residents were quick to blame local cats for scratching the roofs of cars left overnight in our underground carpark. The blame game stopped when a fox was spotted relaxing on a car roof one weekday, mid afternoon. Since cats have retractable claws and foxes (and dogs) don't, as well as generally weighing considerably less than foxes, they seem unlikely culprits.

As I use my car rather rarely I often find muddy footprints on the roof and bonnet. I don't know whether this is cats or foxes, but I more often see foxes than cats in our underground car park.

First I've heard of it but maybe they have been ousted from their den and are looking for somewhere relatively warm to rest - you'll probably find that the cars they chose have been recently driven. If this is right, the problem will end now that it is getting a bit warmer.
