Brentford's nightlife last night (Saturday)

Three of us at 9pm ...looking for somewherefor a light meal and someatmosphere in the High Street.1) Brewery Tap (a pizza?)   Crowded and over noisy   with laddish types   (we didn't stay)2) The Rottura Restaurant.   Empty! We moved on.3) Visited La Rossetta,   as we have done occasionally   for 30+ years.    It was packed in both sections,   Great atmosphere... the food too.   They're doing somthing fight.The Weir Pub outdoor area looked busy this afternoon. The Holiday Innlobby/bar was busyish too. Sam's was not exactly packed.Any Reports of other so called hot spots?La Rossetta saved the day for us

You’re absolutely correct: any further into central London and you could comfortably double that fixed price. We love Trompette too - brilliant, imaginative cooking, superb wine list (we used to be one of their suppliers, so no surprise there!) and impeccable service. Their private dining room was also the venue for our wedding breakfast!We’re incredibly lucky to have such a wonderful restaurant on our doorstep.

This Saturday evening at 8.30pm...both "Rottura" and La Rossetta looked overflowing with customers.

The Rottura menu simply doesn't have anything on it that we'd eat, not much choice for us at Sam's either, though usually something.  La Rosetta is normally our choice.

Had one of the best meals of my life at La Trompette a couple of weeks ago. £65 for 3 courses which, for a Michelin-starred restaurant, is a bargain.

Are you sure you mean La Trompette? (Devonshire Road W4, opened in 2001, Michelin-starred.) Do you perhaps mean La Rosetta?

The Rising Sun TW7 (opposite Wood Lane junction with London Road) is still open. The Rose and Crown a bit closer to Busch Corner closed and turned into flats a few years ago.

The point is, Brentford is not 'similar across the country' or even across Hounslow.In 10 years we have lost 1 net, and there is likely to be a new one in Ballymore.Equally, I know many years ago there were more pubs in Brentford, but when I started here in 1977, all the ones I used then have survived, except the Red Lion and the New England. Though White Horse became the Weir

Its similar across the Country,It’s probably to do with the cost of a Pint. Again unaffordable for many. I certainly won’t pay £5 or £6 for a pint. Not that I drink Alcohol. Most Pubs have had to diversify and many clients only go to eat Pub grub and if driving cannot afford to drink and drive.

WE have lost any number of pubs** in Brentford over the years, most notably the Red Lion. Some were missed, others, like The Albany (now the wonderful Black Dog) were a delight to see gone.**at it's peak, although now totally unsustainable, there were over fifty pubs between Brentford and Kew Bridges within 100 yds, of the High Street.

Rottura busy last time I passed. La Trompette has been a popular place since the 1980s at least, and we remain blessed with a lot of excellent pubs, including a rfairly ne one. Since I've been a councillor (10 years) we have only lost two pubs (Princess Royal and O'Riordans) and gained a new one (Black Dog). This is much better than most parts of London or small towns.

To be honest, it's good to read that many of the eateries in Brentford were busy on a Saturday night. People out enjoying Brentford Nightlife, rather than going to Chiswick, Westfield etc. Perhaps expecting a quiet evening at 9pm was a bit of a big ask?Very sad that Rottura was empty though. We must ensure these places are used and supported.

Black Dog pubSiracusa Italian Sam's - An upmarket experience. And now the new cinema looks to have a good bar in reception with seating.. To be checked out And now Old Town 97 for Chinese and drinks.

Each to their own. My choice is somewhere not too packed and noisy - I find talking against a lot of noise tiresome and tiring. I recently enjoyed thai food in The Magpie and Crown but found the volume of the music (not live) overbearing.
