Weeds on Kew Bridge.

I walked over Kew Bridge this morning and noticed that the Hounslow footpath half was covered with weeds but none on the Richmond half.

Science says differently. There are no known or adverse consequences. Spray the weeds. Stop the inherent rot in the Borough. The place looks like a dump.

Maybe you won't be here to reap the consequences?  Have you seen the number of court cases regarding it?  Or you don't care because it doesn't involve you?  It is known to cause problems to insects and fish and is questionable re people.  It needs to be professionally done.  Only like many things chemical the effect on humans is likely to take a lot longer.

Glyphosate will solve the problem very quickly.

These are some of the plants that are considered weeds by many:https://www.stocksandgreen.com/products/100-wildflower-seeds?mc_cid=8654b86262&mc_eid=b6a573813dand nettles are the preferred plant for the laying of eggs on by FIVE British butterflies.  Yet many seem to want these eradicated because they cause irritation.  We as children were always taught to recognise nettles and to go and find a dock leaf if we were unlucky enough to get stung.Is this just in case they will cause damage or because it looks 'untidy'?  Just sweeping of paving stones and the removal of known problematic plants is far better so that there isn't anything for seeds to germinate in and won't be  poisoning us all. Perhaps Richmond & Wandsworth's Councils have residents who are already weeding that side?

I agree about the bio-diversity issue but the weeds I noticed on the bridge are liable to cause structural damage to the pavement.

https://www.kew.org/read-and-watch/long-live-the-weedsIt depends on what they are.  The idea that all plants should be killed and disposed of does not take into account the problems that we now have have with a loss of diversity, desperate loss of pollinating insects and the increasing understanding of the dangers of the chemical weedkillers on our world including ourselves.

The obsession with migration in this country at the moment seems to be extreme!
