Doctors surgery

So now its even more difficult to get an appointment. Our surgery has now started a triage system online before you can even speak to someone. The old system Patches which I believe worked extremely well has been cancelled and for any request you must fill in a form which will be answered within 2 working days. Anyone else finding this difficult.

Careful Nigel, Guy will be calling you a Tory, which is the biggest insult he can hurl apparently.The Labour chancellors have by and large been pretty poor, although Tory ones have not been much better (and worse, in the case of Kwarteng). But then the calibre of those in politics is pretty poor, nationally and locally.For all his protestations of independence you will find Cllr Lambert is still a Labour supporter. It’s the local mafia he’s fallen out with, rather than the Labour movement. He’s a ‘socialist’, as he happily declared to protestors outside Waterman’s last year.

You are entitled to your opinion about previous Chancellor, no matter how wrong you are. Remind us all again of how well Brown did with our gold reserves, back to Callaghan and the devaluation debacle. I won't write of Darling as his 'success' in squandering £billions bailing out banks is the stuff of legend. Models all for the prudence expected of a Labour chancellor.

Simply untrue about previous chancellors though of course the press owned by overseas billionaires (Times, Telegraph -though I don't know now - Mail etc) claim that. I wonder why?I don't throw my weight behind any party. I am independent and will stay that way, at least until the 2026 election.I will continue to be strongly against Reform and to a milder extent against Conservative, who is the party that really ruins life for the 'average working person'.

Let us see what the delusional accounts clerk brings forth in her budget. If anything like virtually every previous Labour chancellor it will be an absolute disaster for the average working person. So Guy, which party do you now throw your weight behind?

I said nothing of the sort Bob. My experience is the service has improved sharply. I have heard that Brentford sevices have too. The Chiswick practices are clearly an option for anybody dissatisfied.I'm sorry for upsetting you and NV by not saying that the country is going to hell in a handcart. I am no longer a Labour member and have plenty of differences with Labour that I am not shy to mention.I'm delighted with the progress in the NHS

The new system is a great step forward. I had a high blood pressure test reading at a mobile unit at Hounslow House filled form in on line was seen at Grove Park practice with in two days. Yes probably not for someone who is not tech savvy but I'm 74 and can manage it. Phone is still available for anyone.

I am talking about Chiswick Medical Practice. This is a merger of three previous practices: Chiswick Family Doctors Practice (previously in Fishers Lane), Grove Park (near Chiswick Station) and Wellesley Road (near Fountains).It takes me maybe 2 minutes to input a request for an appointment, and I have always had an appointment same day. The location is variable but I cycle to any of them in 10-15 minutes and all are accessible by public transport from Brentford , though Wellesley is a bit of a walk from Fountains.The catchment area includes Brentford and they are still welcoming new patients.https://www.chiswickmedicalpractice.co.uk/appointments/

Yes. I am finding this to be a method of extreme gate posting. It is tediously long to complete and unfair to patients.

Like Guy I have the same practice in Chiswick and I have lived in Brentford for over 50 years. The only issue was if I had an emergency would I call my GP out. No in an emergency I would go to hospital. So even outside the catchment area I still have the same practice I've had since I was born.

There are apparently three separate GP practices within the new Chiswick Health Centre Guy ... which you haven't made clear.Are you saying that all three are accepting new patients from Brentford?

The feedback I've had about Brentford GPs is that that also has improved. I am no expert about catchment areas. WHen I moved to Brentford 12 years ago I told the GP about change of address and was worried they would tell me to change practice. They didn't. The service there has improved massively. You used to have to go there in the morning and queueu for a long time, or wait for a long time on the phone waiting for a receptionist, Normally appointments were a week or two later, though they did try to accommodate something urgent.It has been radically improved and the last time I looked they were advertising for new patients.They still are, including Brentford https://www.chiswickmedicalpractice.co.uk/practice-information/join-our-practice/

Update. Having complained yesterday I have to admit that the new system worked. Within in an hour of sending in the completed form we had a phone call and were booked in for an appointment on the same day. Beginners luck maybe just hope it works as well next time and for everyone. Enjoy the sunshine !

The Surgery I use is shocking to put it mildly and appears to be geared up purely for those who do not work with their appointment methodsPerhaps this how GP waiting lists are supposedly improving as patients simply have enough of having to wait weeks for an appointment and give up even trying

Well bully for you Guy.I am sure that information is of great comfort to Pat and anyone else who registers within the catchment area of their local gp service,which afaik is what everyone is supposed to do.

Not me, but I always stayed with my former GP practice in Chiswick. The service there is outstanding, and greatly improved recently. If I need an appointment I go online in the morning. Without exception so far, I have had a doctor (or once a nurse) appointment the same afternoon. Sometimes online, sometimes in person according to whether the GP wants to see me in the flesh. Again, my in person appointments have been same day.
