Robin Grove recreation ground

Could somebody tell me where this playground is please?  The text says "access points from Augustus Close and Dock Road" but a map search shows that Robin Grove is up towards Brentford Station.  Thanks.

"The opening sentence in this thread, if you care to remember, was...  "Could somebody tell me where this playground is please?"Where the presence of a sign at the top of Robin Grove indicating the whereabouts of the Recreation Ground, which *is* a Council Responsibility, would no doubt be of help. As to why this particular bridge should be signposted whereas as others are not ? Viewed from the top of the road, the path leading to the rec and bridge runs away to the right and isn't visible at all.  Whereas the other bridges, being accessible from the towpath are already clearly visible.michael adms

Like a number of other pedestrian bridges in Brentford, the new bridge was not funded by the Council. It was built and paid for by the Brentford Lock West developers - i.e. indirectly by the residents there. There are no signposts for the other similar bridges in Brentford, so why should there be an exception for this one? As for the Robin Grove recreation ground, it is not a secret (though some of the Robin Grove residents reportedly wish it were) and has been there for many decades, so why the sudden concern about signposting it?

Is it not astonishing, that after spending all that money on a new bridge - which actually looks wide enough to drive a car across - that nobody thought to spend say £50 on a sign at the top of Robin Grove indicating that the Recreation Ground and the Footbridge over the canal were *around a slight bend* at the bottom of Robin Grove ?  Its almost as if they want to keep it a secret. Or at l;east restrict use of the bridge to people living in the new flatswho can obviously see that its there.michael adams

You either go across the new pedestrian bridge, just South of the railway line, on the canal towpath between Holiday Inn and the former GSK, OR go  up Upper Butts (North of Somerset Rd) then Church Walk. Robin Grove is last on the left before you get to the pedestrian bridge over the railway line. It makes a great shortish circular walk from central Brentford.
