Another Hounslow iffy gentleman it's worth reading about is a Mr Ahsan Ulla whose dubious activities have been reported in the National Press ... namely the Sunday Times on the 16th November 1925.Apparently based in Kingsley Road, Hounslow... Mr Ulla's finacial activities resulted in investors still waiting for repayment of their invested 24 millions of pounds.He might not not have been a Councillor but he had dealings with the Workers Party etc.Check out "Google".

A London court has been told that a high profile Hounslow Councillor hired an illegal immigrant to work as a nanny for a year and paid her cash in hand.Councillor Hina Mir, one of the Labour councillors for Feltham West ward, has been charged with hiring Himanshi Gongley, an Indian student, to work in her home until  August 2024 despite Ms Gongley not having  legal residency or the right to work in the UK.The court was told that Councillor Mir kept the student, who was 22 at the time, on call 24 hours a day, six days a week.The trial is ongoing and Cllr Mir must be presumed innocent until and if she is found guilty.Last Tuesday a black BMW i3 believed to belong to Cllr Mir was photographed parked in a disabled parking bay under Hounslow House,  while the Borough Council meeting was in progress in the sixth floor of the building, without displaying a Blue Badge.This was despite the fact that fellow Labour Cllr Farhaan Rehman’s blue Lamborghini Urus SUV had previously been photographed parked in disabled parking bays under Hounslow House without displaying a Blue Badge.Cllr Rehman has subsequently apologised, paid £160 to the Mayor’s charities and resigned as chair of the Licensing and General Purposes Committee. However he remains a councillor for Hounslow Heath and a Labour candidate for the May 2026 Borough elections.Cllr Mir served as Deputy Mayor of Hounslow in 2021/22. She is currently Chair of the Borough’s Housing and Environment Scrutiny Panel, Vice-Chair of the Bedfont and Feltham Area Forum and a member of the important Oversight and Scrutiny Committee and the Planning.Hina Mir is a senior and influential councillor. In addition she is a solicitor with an office in Southall  and the sole director of at least three private limited liability companies. I've always had the view that with some of this crop they would go with whichever party was in the majority on the council if and when it suited them. Another one of this shameful bunch has once again got a mention for Hounslow council in this week's edition of 'Private Eye, see 'Rotten Boroughs'.

I see another Labour councillor has crossed the floor to an opposition party,rather than doing what I consider to be the honourable thing to do if you leave a party...ie:sit as an independent rather than join the enemy.Seems like my suggestion that some Labour councillors might vote the other way may not be for the birds after all.

You'd hope that Labour Party HQ would intervene and arrange for some different candidates to stand in the upcoming local elections, particularly as I think the local Hounslow Party is in 'special measures' at the moment and can't decide such things for itself.  Labour HQ certainly have a reputation for blocking any vaguely left-wing candidates that local constituency members might have preferred.

Probably the tip of the iceberg. Seems like the corruption runs in their family. Its hardly a good look and I’m certainly glad they are not my local Councillors.Thanks Jim and Vanessa for the explanations and where to look, I had no idea.The corruption probably has a lot to do with their ethnic heritage and Pakistan is one of the most corrupt countries in the world.

I'll bet I know more about the history and tenets of the Labour Party than any councillor mentioned in this thread,as I'll also bet many of us do.It wouldn't surprise me if some of them voted Tory at general elections.

'This story has  just made the local BBC London news.So why has she not been made to resign or kicked out of the Labour Party?The way they are carrying on they face a wipe out in the local elections.'Well, can't disagree with that - and what really does get to me is how these people - most of whom I don't believe for a minute ever understood, supported or really were died in the wool Labour people, have managed to do all this damage. I would venture a guess at the money now being 'on offer' to councillors being a lot to do with it, plus the influence it brings in some communities. And that cannot be right. I have long thought many would 'cross the floor' if this borough had a different majority party. This lets down the many, many people who have worked for, been members of, and supported the Labour Party all their lives, all because of the petty internal squabbles and outside influences which are absolutely nothing to do with local politics. And that the NEC of the Labour party have been going along with this is even more unforgiveable. This lot deserve to lose, apart from a few notable individuals, the rest are beneath contempt and have brought the party into disrepute.

I cannot believe that there were other councillors who didn't have some knowledge of what was going on, and although I appreciate it would not have been easy, or at all comfortable, why wasn't some of this behaviour called out? The trouble now is that everyone on the Labour group runs the possibility of being tarred with the same brush. As for the NEC choosing the candidates for selection - we are told, on the Leader's recommendation, it doesn't say much for his intelligence, or his choice of comrades. This will surely be the death knell for Labour domination in Hounslow. They have not only let the people of the borough down, they have insulted their party members and ruined all the work others did before them. If I were Keir Starmer, I'd certainly be having a good look at the people who sit on the NEC, if they  aren't totally incompetent I don't know who is.

I am not sure there is now anything 'alleged' about Cllr.Mir's immigration and employment offences since she was convicted and has had her appeal rejected.That's quite unequivocal wouldn't you say?

I was expelled from the Labour Party for publicly questioning council houses being built and not occupied. The good news was that they were occupied shortly after though it took several months for the flats in the High Street to be occupied (though they had been built months earlier). Meanwhile there are only 2 shops occupied in the same block. Some of the others say 'to let'(at least 5, though I think there are probably 9 without tenants) but only 3 of them are actively being marketed. I was told at the start that there were tenants ready for all 12. That was over a year ago, and the remaining tenants from Albany Parade were evicted in January. Only one has now opened a shop. This should be the lifeblood of our town centre. At least 2 shops have closed since the redevlopment because there is little passing trade. Other people who were planning to be tenants have told me they gave up because the council was so difficult to deal with. I don't know who they were because who was interested was a secret.Meanwhile Hina Mir (fined £40000 for alleged immigration and employment offences) is reselected despite also being married (or was) to a man serving 12 years for fraud (of which she knew nothing). Raghwinder Siddhu has I believe also been reselected despite his solicitor business being closed down by the Solicitors Regulation Authority after problems where the SRA observed there was "reason to suspect dishonesty". Raghwinder's wife Emma is also a councillor, also I believe reselected. Of course I guess she knew nothing about her husband's alleged dishonesty and of course she is the chairman of the Labour Group which expelled me and Amrit Mann (for alleged antisemitic behaviour which I doubt) and caused my superb ward councillor Lara Parizotta to resign because she went to a demonstration in support of Gaza residents in a dire situation.Meanwhile a Labour councillor selected to contest Chiswick Homefields (the safest Conservative seat on the council) has been to Hounslow's answer to Damascus and converted to a Conservative on the way home. I don't know if the Conservatives have selected him yet. Good luck Chiswick. Oh, and a Labour candidate in Chiswick has also resigned from the party.My real concerns are for the residents in Hounslow and all the other Councillors in the Labour group who do their best to get the council back on track. For me, I'm delighted to be out of Labour and hoping to be the first Green to be elected in Hounslow, where there is some commitment to a fair society and integrity amongst councillors.

Cllr Mir has been officially selected to stand for Labour in the Bedfont ward next May. In the light of the hearing, and the judge's comment, there is now pressure on her to stand down. Will she do so of her own volition? What will Hounslow Labour Party do?According to the court hearing, she breached section 15 of the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006, which says an employer must perform the correct “right to work” checks. She told the court the student was just a ‘social visitor’ who came over to her home to ‘play video, watch TV and chill’.Arif Rehman, representing Cllr Mir, said there was no ‘employer relationship’. He added: “Miss Ria used to come over on the weekends and stay occasionally. That is the extent of the relationship. This story is fabricated with an intention to claim immigration advantage and to present herself as a victim of modern-day slavery. Any organisation that can't stick to it's own rules and treats its disabled customers and constituents with contempt has been in office too long.That they need a complete reset is obvious to all but themselves.Councillor Rehman was 'allowed' to make a donation to the Mayor's Fund(I think the mayor is a relaative of his).Perhaps a precedent has now been set..if you get a parking ticket(which I know he didn't actiually get but the point is germain),that you can make a donation to charity instead of coughing up to LBH.
