Decision time for Labour in Hounslow

According to Brentford TV the Labour group meets tonight to decide who the leader will be. Whoever gets the job is going to have a difficult balancing act - there are about 20 or so Special Responsibility Allowance roles to hand out so around 10 councillors are going to miss out. Every councillor knows that the control of the group depends on a single vote so they will be looking for the opportunity to leverage that.However, it seems to me highly likely that the new leader, faced with potential rebellion, would quickly come to a deal with the Greens and the single Lib Dem to rule as a coalition. Maybe Guy will be back in the cabinet soon!

A lot of London councils are now No Overall Control which seems like a good thing to me as it will require the LTN fanatics to negotiate. Pity Hounslow has that majority of 1!

Rajawat back, Tony Louki Chief Whip, that's all so far, edict not to talk to media locally already gone out! God forbid that the electorate should be told what the people they voted for are doing!
