money scam

i have just received an email from a friend saying there is a scam going about.if you receive a card through your door from a firm called PDS (parcel delivery service) stating you have a parcel awating collection phone a 090(.....) number DONT! it will cost you  £15 to hear the message                  !! BE WARNED !!

There's a similar one in operation purporting to come from Lloyds TSB.  Again the bank's advice is never to give your bank details by return e-mail - they would never ask for them in this way.

RuthI've been told that no High Street Banks or Credit Card Companies would ever ask for any details from their members on e-mail.Most banks haven't got your e-mail address & if they had would only use it to inform members of any changes etc.If anyone receives anything that looks 'dodgy' they should refrain from opening it or any attachments that go with it.I would recommend that a good security/firewall system is installed on your PC.

And I've had in the last few days both the Sierra Leone Money transfer scam email, plus several from "Barclays Bank" asking for all my details "as they are upgrading their computer systems".  As Idon;t have a Barclays a/c it was easy to spot.  Thought I'd warn anyone who hasn't heard of these.Ruth

Somerfield are always doing this.  It happens far too often for it to be anything other than deliberate.Most of their stuff is one for the price of two anyway.

If you want to see another scam ( confidence trick )pop along to your local Somerfield. Go for the 2 for the price of 1 steak cut chips. BUT, wait a minute what is this on the shelf immediately below ( at the height that older people would reach first ). Isn't it more of the same packs? Its the same colour and printing, same weight and same price 89p and the writing is exactly the same. OH NO. Instead of STEAK CUT CHIPS it reads STRAIGHT CUT CHIPS and you've guessed it they are not on special offer!  A regular special con offer brought to you by those friendly people at Somerfield.

Wouldn't it be interesting to see who delivers them to your door?This scam was mentioned on the Chiswick.W4.com Forum..in December..and I have just plucked the thread from a lowly page..and placed it on the front page of their Forum for you and others to see...apart from Arfer Fosters of course. ""FIRST POST CHRISTMAS SCAM"
