Trico Brentford Strike for Equal Pay in 1976

Missing the theatre and there no longer being Watermans with its unforgettable pantos I picked up a Questors brochure in Ealing and came across a play about this strike in Brentford which I vaguely remember!Do take a look at their What's On:  www.questors.org.ukThey have also fixed some leaks in their leaking roof recently and are currently raising more money for a new roof. This is our closest theatre!www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/raise-the-roof-2026

There was a good book out some time ago by Sally Groves, the strike's press officer. I reviewed it here.https://londonhistorians.wordpress.com/2018/10/29/trico-the-longest-equal-pay-strike/

Thanks Mike,  I'll have a search for it!  It's an interesting bit of local social history that some on here may have taken part in!

I was working at Trico-Folberth during the strike I was an apprentice at the time. I also organise a bi-yearly reunion for people who work at the Brentord site. I know of no one who wants to talk about the strike.

Thank you for responding.  That in itself is interesting.  Maybe it's not long enough ago and too close for some or many and too painful a reminder.  I think I remember posts about Trico reunions but having not been around at the time of the strike made no connection to the fight for women's equal pay - something which many would say we still don't have.  It's not a documentary but is "a fictionalised play based on real events to mark 50 years since the strikes". The play Made in Dagenham was interesting and became a film giving a brief picture of the past.  I thought this local one would be of interest.

There is a Trico Workers Reunion Group on Facebook which has 169 members. Others have asked for information I honestly have no idea if any comments made. The subjuct of the strike has never been mentioned at any reunion.

They used to have a yearly do at The Inverness Lodge. They might still for all I know.

Yes you are correct. but with numbers falling and most of the reunion squad now well into there 80's we decieded to have the reunion twice a year and still at the inverness Lodge.
