Charlton Athletic vs Brentford

Well its not Chelsea or ManU, but at least its not Colchester or Southampton. Should be quite a friendly affair, and hopefully quite remunerative!

The triple substitution seems to be the ace card employed by all of the Premiership clubs when things aren't going well against a lower league side.  When the minnows have given it all they've got for an hour there can't be anything more demoralising than the sight of three fresh and ready superstars, worth more than your whole team put together and probably the stadium as well, emerging onto the pitch to take you on.Sunderland did this on Saturday, but unfortunately (for them) the replacements were every bit as bad as the three who had been taken off.

No-one will take anything for granted. We were hopeless for 60 minutes on Saturday until a triple substitution changed things around. Our capacity is just over 27,000. We have to give 15% which is a little over 4,000. Orient were given nearly 6000 but whether this will be repeated I don't know.

After Saturday I think Mr Curbishley should be worried as well as Matt !!! Mind you I think Mr Curbishley is no fool and he will of done his homework on the Bees. Matt, what is the capacity of The Valley ? Would I have been right in a figure of 5,000 tickets for Bees fans ?

As posted on the 24th!''As TW8 posters, who's going to the game & who are going to ''shy out'' but jump on the bandwagon when the MIGHTY BEES defeat those ''mackems'' who pretend that they are a Premiership side?''Could've been a better draw but at least the majority of Bees fans will be able to get across London & attend a derby game rather than us drawing Newcastle (away again), Colchester? Reading? etc!!Martin Allen for England manager???I bet Matt's getting worried now!!

Fair comment on our form. Personally, I think Alan Curbishley needs European experience before being suitable for England consideration. Anyway, should be a good one. Bring it on...

Had an idea it would be an anti-climax draw. However I think The Bees can turn Charlton over. If we are lucky at least 5,000 tickets should be available to Bees fans. Charlton have been a bit hit and miss this season, one minute Curbishley is in the frame to be the next England manager, the next Charlton fans are calling for his head !!! Hopefully any trouble within will be exploited by Mr Allen to again put his men out in the right frame of mind to turn over another Premiership side !!!

MattI guess it's a middling kind of draw for Brentford.  Better than getting Stoke or Colchester, but without any disrespect intended Chelsea or Man U would have made TV coverage more likely.  I'm hoping that all the publicity surrounding DJ and his wonder goals will swing it, along with Greg Dyke and his media background of course.I don't know whether your connections stretch to the higher echelons of Sky or the BBC, but if they do could you please arrange the match for Sunday?  I'm going to miss it if you don't.Any predictions on the scoreline?  I say 2-0 to Brentford and Colchester in the next round. :o)

Phone's been ringing quite a bit this last hour...Well, if we play like we did on Saturday then Brentford can beat us, no question. But I don't think we can be that bad twice and, being honest, we've been drawn at home to the lowest-placed team still in the competition. But ask Walsall, Gillingham and Oxford, who have all seen us off in cups in the recent past.I hope for Brentford's sake that it's on TV - the £256,000 will come in handy.
