Recommended "Greasy Spoons" in TW7 and TW8?

Matt's references to the cafe in Brook Road North seems to have triggered my nostrils into wondering where the best cafes are these days.For the past 33 years I've been driving around the area during the daytime..not quite so much these days though...and often wonder where the best cuppas are..and perhaps the fried breakfast too!The Boston Cafe has been there for yonks and its easy parking proved fine for that tea and sandwich interlude..but they don't do fry-ups.One favourite was Frank's Imperial Cafe in the way into Whitton..on the Hounslow Road. Back in the 70's the sound of Frank calling out the orders and cooking..together with the Pacman Amusements machine...kept many of use amused. Its a bit more upmarket these days..and good too.Then there's that small cafe tucked under the Bridge at Isleworth Station. Only been there once.Parking near cafes is a problem these days..and this can affect trade.Maria's near Hounslow Heath..tucked away in Carrington Square is worth a visit..the chips are good!Any recommendations?

This was Matt's favourite..and I've been longing to get there to check out the egg,bacon,etc etc ;0).ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooFor the past 18 months it's been run by a young Polish Lady..and very tastefully it's been kitted out too. 20 odd years ago it was bare and stark...now it is cosy in the Polish teahouse kind of way. Well done the Poles! Chinqueer!I met several old acquantances ..and will be returning!oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooThat was only £4 too! Have you tried it?

seldom see any reviews on this side of town, but worth posting  never the less ...http://www.eggbaconchipsandbeans.comi used to go to the cafe in the little plaza off the high street near ealing road for a nice big breakfast, though the service there dropped several notches the last few times i went.

There is a greasy spoon on Windmill Road the North side of the motorway...Windmill Cafe. Not as sophisticated as Greedies but hits the spot and is pretty cheap...

Layton Road cafe & The Noshery in Isleworth are both highly recommended by myself.The Noshery do very good lunches at a reasonable price & is also open on a Sunday morning for breakfast where as Layton Road is not.

I would second Greedies (in South St? near the clocktower).  It is an upmarket greasy spoon that has fry ups & mugs of tea/coffee but also has a more extended menu & is excellent for Sunday lunch.  The quality of food is more like a bistro but @ greasy spoon prices.  Large portions too.Although it's not a greasy spoon, it has greasy spoon prices & I've recommended it before on this forum - the chinese buffet (eat as much as you like) in the old Isleworth cinema on the London Rd next to Thames college called Yellow Xpress.  I think it's £5.90 before 5.00pm & the food is excellent.Both of these recommendations are great for children too, as they have a relaxed atmosphere.Happy eating!

Jim,When I was a nipper we used to live next door to Frank, the owner of the Imperial Cafe in Whitton. I used to spend a lot of time there with his son. I don't know if Frank still owns it but I see him occasionally and he has't changed much. My recomendation for a good fry up is Greedies in South Street, Isleworth. The food there has always been good and the surroundings are clean and pleasant. They even have plasma tv's to keep you entertained.

Thanks for your messages....you've given me some ideas!(Thanks to Peter/Linda Wright for finding this SMALL dish!).So there's some touring around to be done over the next few weeks. Watch the scales!  HP brown sauce or Tomato Sauce?

The Noshery is first class.  Go for the Full Monty, the big spread which weighs in at just under a fiver.  The little hut under the bridge, as Paul says, is also very good - when you can find it open.Matt - if you decide to give it a try be careful where you park or it will be another expensive experience.  Parking is free (at the moment!) in the streets to the south of the London Road, but the main road itself and the streets to the north are part of a very well-policed CPZ.Thanks all of you for this wonderful thread, just the thing I need to read about as I enter the sixth week of my diet!

The little white shed/building by Isleworth Station is excellent complete with newspapers and wobbley benches but the winner for me has to be the Boston Cafe.

It's a few years since I was there but it was excellent and I think it is the place Matt is referring to near Kwikfit on London Road in Isleworth - it's called the NOSHERY - I think it is also open on Sundays for lunches.The cafe on the corner of Layton Road has been sold and is now I believe run by and/or owned by Poles.

Enough with the pictures Jim!!! Here breakfast comes with a huge mound of hash browns and toast (with something on it, not sure it is butter as I've seen them putting it on with a paint brush). Have never had a breakfast with tomatoes and mushrooms! The bacon is cooked (streaky) to a crisp; and the price of coffee - well don't order it any more, it is way too expensive. No doubt due to all the Starbucks around!!

Jim, the cafe on Layton Rd/Brook Road N, by the railway bridge, is the best around. Breakfasts are tops (I'm a Bubble Breakfast man myself, though a Big with the chips is sometimes called for). They also do very good lunches - chicken kiev, pies, great meatballs and other specials all around £4.50. Opens at 7, closes at 3, and you can park outside. And there are always newspapers available, without which no cafe is complete.The Boston cafe is very good for sandwiches but space is very limited. Dew Drop is good but is really just breakfasts IMHO. Parking is problematic at both - witness the sausage and bacon sandwich I had the other day which cost me £40.In Isleworth there's the cafe near Kwikfit, the name of which totally escapes me.

Yes Jim the Boston Cafe is excellent quality food and value.  I don't eat fry-ups but believe they do hot food and probably some type of fried food.  I haven't been in the cafe 2 doors down but it looks OK.Next on my list is the Dew Drop Inn which does fry-ups which I used to have some 20 years ago.  But they also do sensible vegetarian dishes when I last went.  Again a family service.Jenny's opposite in the High Street has good food and fry-ups and friendly staff.  I think the manager's family are in the staff. And I like Georges Cafe opposite the Fountain Leisure Centre.  In summer I like beans and toast lunch with a nice cup of tea around my visit to swimming and use this.  Again a friendly proprietor.  I can remeber Geoges since 1976.I must say I've been surprised by the price of coffee in some establishments no doubt inspired by the lates coffee trend.  I remember in Clapham when I visited a coffee shop and asked for a coffee to be asked - what kind vanilla, mocha, stawberry, banana ....  I just said I want a simple coffee but the enthusiastic girl couldn't understand until the proprietor intervened and explained what it was coffee with milk.
