AlanFair comment up to a point, but is it unreasonable for myself and others to know where the person who is posting is coming from?If a posting criticising myself or another member of the ICG is made under your name, then we know you are commenting as an officer of the New Labour Party.  That doesn't invalidate your opinion, but the observer will at least be aware of your angle on the subject.  Likewise, we are able to note that Jim's various remarks about Simon are being made by somebody who is a regular user of the forum and who is concerned that the standards which it has set for itself are maintained, irrespective of whether or not we happen to agree with him.Posters who use pseudonyms on the other hand attempt to create a false impression of a reaction from Joe Public which does not in reality exist.  As such they are being deceitful.  They have the unfair advantage of being able to snipe without themselves being subject to scrutiny.  That is not reasonable behaviour.Whatever the true identity of the mysterious poster who has appeared on here as "Annabel", "Barney" and "Collette", one common factor has been evident throughout.  He/she is able to attack Simon openly and to post some of the more ridiculous - and unsubstantiated - accusations about myself of the "Phil Andrews eats babies" variety, which you yourself are not prepared to do openly because you know I will take appropriate action. If an allegation is valid then there is no reason why people such as you and I, who operate in the public arena, should not put our names to them.  Why should an allegation be taken seriously when it is being made by someone hiding behind the cloak of anonymity? This is why I consider it unfortunate, but at the same time revealing, that you are apparently unprepared to condemn this practice.

JimThank you for posting this up for me in a readable format.  I'll have to familiarise myself with the techie stuff as quickly as possible if I am not to be embarrassed...Like I said earlier, my problem is not with these people referring to my political history if they think there are votes to be had from it (although past experience would suggest that the opposite is the case, which in turn would suggest that they are simply doing it to create fear in the community).  Politicians do this kind of thing and, provided it is accurate, I can have no argument with it.The letter, of course, is not accurate.  David Freeman was the leader of the ICG at the time this letter was published, and Paul Fisher is now.  Neither, to my knowledge, are "former leading members of the National Front" and if the Labour Party has any evidence to the contrary I would be grateful if they would kindly forward it to me.I suspect the comment is intended as a reference to me.  Why then have I been described as the ICG "leader" - a position I have never held nor even sought?  Who decides who is the ICG's leader, the Labour Party or the ICG?  The intention behind the remark, of course, is to imply that the ICG is a front organisation for the National Front, something which they admitted to be false during the Malicious Falsehood hearing a couple of years back and which is a matter of public record.  In other words they are publishing allegations which they know and have accepted are unfounded.  Guy Smith's comments would appear to suggest that if the organic matter hits the fan they will simply deny authorship.  This is the kind of nonsense the people of Isleworth are up against. According to informed anti-fascist sources, the National Front's national membership stands at a little under 200.  About one eighth, in other words, of the membership of the ICG, a purely local organisation.  It doesn't have nor ever has had any council seats.  The ICG has three and expects to gain more in May.  The modern-day NF, as far as I can see, is a pathetic mutation of the neo-fascist organisation of the same name which won 250,000 votes in local elections during the late seventies and which went on to achieve some notoriety in the eighties.  Its activities appear to consist of knuckle-scraping "marches" of 20-30 skinheads through the channel ports of Kent, escorted by much larger numbers of police officers.  Yet we are supposed to be a front organisation for them?  Amazing! It seems to me that the New Labour Party in Isleworth is honouring its long-standing tradition of distributing material with complete disregard and indifference as to whether or not there is any truth in it.  In 2002 this included a leaflet which claimed that Labour councillors had been active on a non-existent housing estate, and claiming the credit for the completion of a window-replacement programme on Ivybridge which had barely even begun.  Not to mention, of course, the leaflet published in their name which they went on to deny all knowledge of in court. In the 2005 general election the same mentality manifested itself in the publication of a leaflet which was designed to deceive voters into thinking it had been issued by the Liberal Democrats.Add to this the HM Magazine co-delivery scam, and we get some idea of the kind of people we are dealing with.I am looking forward to kicking this lot into touch for once and for all, and would ask all decent people who are concerned to see openness and honesty reintroduced into our local politics to do whatever they can to help, because this is a cause which really does transcend ideology or organisational allegiance. If you think you can help - by participating, donating, or even just by voting in the most effective way possible to get these people out of office - please contact me, in complete confidence, at phil@communitygroup.org.uk.

JimI don't really want to bring Matt into this because he doesn't deserve it, but I must confess to some confusion as to why he wishes to associate himself with these people.  Maybe he aspires to change things for the better, with a view to achieving some kind of dialogue which would render the current situation between our two groups unnecessary?  If so let's hope it works.Or possibly New Labour is consciously playing the "Good Cop, Bad Cop routine"?  Only time will tell. The letter which I saw didn't contain any disgraceful slurs about me.  It stated that the ICG was "led by a former leading member of the National Front".  This is a disgraceful slur against David Freeman, the leader of the ICG (at the time of publication.  All such slurs in the future will concern Paul Fisher).  Had it been about me it would have been fair comment and would not have been taken any further.Guy Smith, who would be in a position to know because his mother is Chair of the Isleworth ward Labour Party, claims the letter had nothing to do with the Labour Party, even though it carries its agent's imprint and copies of the candidates' signatures.  So one must presume they are up to their old "publish and deny" tricks again, which would explain why they were posted and not hand-delivered.On the ICG forum (www.icgforum.org.uk - "Elections" - "Selection Meeting this Friday") untrue allegations are being made that I have held and continue to hold furtive meetings with the leader of the BNP and that the founder of the ICG was a bodyguard of Oswald Mosley.  Although the poster hides behind a nom-de-plume (such gallantry and preparedness to defend one's position with honour and courage I have not witnessed since the Malicious Falsehood court case) the poster is in fact a Labour Party candidate. This is the level on which these people are currently operating in my part of the world, and it will get worse.  It is difficult to look at Matt and see him as being part of the same operation.

As I have some 21 topics too...and Sarah some 27? ..plus your 32..the three of us add up to 80 TOPICS on this Forum!  that's nearly half or the available 200 spaces!!  We're overdoing it.The three of us should perhaps be using existing topics/headings..to give other people a chance.  If we keep postings NEW TOPICS, especially those that are repeats..or similar to ones we've already started...or naff ones..we will soon fill up the front page etc and have lots of good threads falling off the end of page 10.Todays blitz on Brentford History on the front page..is special...because of the current Brentford Developement Consultations..and we're collecting old TOPICS from the archives.  You see, visits to this Forum are being recommended by Council Officers so that Brentford residents can view some of the Brentford Pictures and attached discussions from many contributors....before they are lost again. Your work in the Charity fundraising field is much admiredand I would like to recommend that you launch a nicely titled "Simon's Charity Information" thread or something like that. It would look good..and could include all your requests for help, all the dates that you are out collecting,etc..with news about your successes.  Having lots  of related topics all over the place..somehow reduces the impact. You can still have say 20 TOPICS/HEADINGS..amalgamate some..but 32 is perhaps overdoing it. I will cut down too...and will endeavour to post on the end of other peoples topics.  Be sure, I want to help you!

Thanks for that Ina, but you shouldn't get annoyed because that only makes them think they've had a result and then they get even worse.  Like some flasher on the common, they judge their success or failure by the level of shock which they are able to induce from their audience as they sink to depths never before explored.  Can anybody truly believe how low this once great party has fallen? My political past is just that - everybody knows about it, I have spoken out against it and have tried my best to do something worthwhile to compensate for it.  Some people accept my efforts as sincere, some don't - it's a question of personal choice.  Members of what remains of this sorry little group, however, routinely "rediscover" it every four years at around about this time and announcesit to the world as though it were some hitherto undisclosed secret, assuming you lesser mortals to be so thick that you will have forgotten about previous "discoveries" of an identical nature.  Usually this happens about a week before polling day, but this year they would appear to have begun early. In my view this has probably happened because they have already accepted that the game is up.  I know this borders upon advertising, but you really ought to pay a visit to our forum at www.icgforum.org.uk if you want to see these clowns in full flow.  I can promise you it is an education. They say that an animal is at its most dangerous when it is dying.  There's nothing dangerous about this bunch, but there is something slightly entertaining, in a macabre kind of way, about watching them as they lie on their backs and thrash about a bit in fearful anticipation of the inevitable.  Roll on May the 4th.
