Hang your thread in shame.

On an earlier thread I quipped about making sure that somebody washed the flag - may have been the St Georges Day Flag discussion about displaying the Union Jack.I did not jest, chaps.  When wandering around should you spot a rare Union Jack, often it is so grubby you cannot make out the stripes. It doesn't take much really to slot an occasional wash into the routine - I mean - who is on the rota for taking home the tea towels?  Wouldn't take much to shinny up the flag pole and swap it with a clean one, now, would it?Now these three flags are on the top of a building on one of the most important highways to take people into the Centre of London.  I have watched then disintegrate and often thought about taking a photo in disgust - so here you are chaps.  Any opinions?   ... It wouldn’t cost a lot to replace those flags, as someone must be maintaining the building.Some other poster mentioned that plans for a private medical centre were submitted for this empty building ages ago, I wonder why it hasn’t gone ahead yet?

Ann: Yes..exactly the same procedure. If you go to the BBC News front page for example...right click on the picture...properties..look for url...ending in jpg..or gif.. copy ..transfer..paste..add thingies..and quoila!You could practice on the little used Wandsworth Forum if you wish.  Thats for starters anyhow...you could even mop up that Gunnersbury Station picture on the Chiswick Forum..and either save it in MY PICTURES..or place it onto a Wandsworth  thread.  Hugh practices on the FulhamSW6 forum..and he's there alone!

This shot wasn't easy as the aircraft had appeared suddenly from behind a line of trees.  The flag doesn't look as polished as DeCaux's.By the way there is a flagpole at the Civic Centre..next time you're passing!

That was a good set of pictures Sarah..and the flag on the DCCecaux looks Persil Clean.The tatty flag seems to be on the building next to Audi. Isn't it unoccupied?As Ann said, flags used to be taken down at sunset.The picture is easy to reproduce. Right click on the picture..and look for PROPERTIES on menu...then seek out the url..ending in jpg or gif...COPY AND PASTE ..add the thingies front and back..if missing...and ...(hopefully!)....

We would like to see lots more flags.  There were a number along the Great West Road and as the buildings have been rebuilt and people aren't pushing the use of the flags they have been removed - just like the Christmas trees and lights.Often when you do spot a flag it is really grubby - I saw a Euro flag the other day where the yellow stars were almost invisible from the dirt from the road.  But these three really take the biscuit!  Somebody owns the building (it’s in Brentford’s opposite the Old Firestones building and the New Berlin wall) and I bet maintenance of the flags is tax deductible anyway!A newspaper could run a ‘worst flag in the capital’ competition – I suspect these Brentford ones would win!

Well done, Sarah!  Nice photos.  The photo of the three tatty flags should be sent in to the local press.Doesn't look as though they are taken down at sunset, as was once the order of the day.O.K. so how do you get your photos on to the threads so immediately and excellently?
