Puzzle of pavement paint patterns

Vandalism or art on local streets?Front page story.These patterns are all over the place - and in TW7 as well.  If they do not wash off, they are vandalism.  Does anyone know what has been used to make the markings?

I have been told that too Guy - it seems the environmentally friendly weed killer needs to be sprayed on in dry weather - and it would make sense for it to be seen, for a short time at least, so they can see where they sprayed.  It should wash off when we get some rain.  Phew!  That is a relief!

I have been told that is some sort of weed killer. I'm quite sure it has nothing to to with marking out houses worth burgling, equally Graffiti is unlikely as there is no 'tag' to be seen on any of the patterns.

Nasty creeps.  No, I didn't know about that story - but we have seen the pavement drawings which are pretty extensive.  It always amazes me that nobody appears to see them at it - and with all the mobile phones around - call it into the Police.  I just hope its spray chalk or the suchlike and will wash off - or we will have a new form of graffiti which is likely to catch on.Marking houses to target?  beggars belief but I have heard about elderly folk (local) being targeted by fraudsters who seeing road works near to an elderly persons house, call on them saying that they are from the water company and need to check the connection or suchlike.  My neighbour says that two of her friends who are normally careful, were fooled by this just because of the road works nearby.  Shame isn't it.

SarahThere was a story in a newspaper a week or two ago which reported that in certain ares people were going around putting chalk marks on the walls of properties to indicate to others the 'status' of the property.E.G. a square on the wall indicated that the house was worthwhile breaking into, a circle meant that the house had recently been burgled, a triangle meant that there was nothing valuable inside etc etc.As Barry says this may be a similar thing but hopefully it's just someone messing around with paint or something.

A police program on a cable channel a while back was on about certain graffiti patterns outside or on a wall was to identify a building to break into.
