the whole point of a strike, as far as I have always understood it, is to cause maximum inconvenience, and make people take notice of the absence of what they normally take for granted....usually public sector workers, who are relied upon day in day out often in this case anyway relating to a poor pension provision/lack of secure pension provision. Not sure if this makes sense. Following this line of reasoning, the bin men or those striking should not have picked it up later in the week, or been paid extra for doing it, and in the old days, would have been considered strike breakers for doing so.
