new development - car in canal

we have just got back from feeding the ducks in the new development in brentford high st. previously the estate agents had pareking spaces threre you could drive right down to the canal edge. the only thing between you and water were some flimsey railings bearly screwed to the floor. there are a couple of more suitable bollards but are more than triple the width of a car apart. it has now been shut off now and you cant drive down. last week apparently a car had an accident and drove through barriers into canal. the driver managed to get out through his sun roof. if i have missed the information on this site about it then sorry to repeat it. just glad the driver managed to get out. its a good thing its been shut off because with my son in his car seat in the back if it had happened to me i dread to think what the outcome may have been.

it was apparently a citroen. im sure the man never meant to drive his car into the canal - god forbid he may have had an accident. the spot is mostly used by parents taking their children to feed the ducks. would you have the same attitude if there had been children in the back!''There is already more than enough street furniture cluttering the place we should not add to it''what???

I am sorry but why should direct access to the canal be cut off because somebody might be silly enough to drive a car into it. There is already more than enough street furniture cluttering the place we should not add to it.

Nothing like having proper steel bollards around water environments.  Out of interest what kind of car was it?
